An Anglican priest, Ven David Arinze Ajaefobi, identified as the Archdeacon of Oyi Central Archdeaconry and Vicar of St James’ Parish in Awkuzu, has reportedly been kidnapped.
Sources informed Ejes Gist News that Ajaefobi was allegedly abducted by unidentified individuals on the night of Saturday, October 26, 2024. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM at the entrance gate of St James’ Parish, located in the Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

As of the latest updates, there has been no communication from the abductors regarding ransom demands or the motives behind the abduction. In response to the distressing news, the church has initiated prayer sessions for the priest’s safe return.
When contacted for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the police had not received any reports regarding the incident.
