Wike vs. Fubara: Niger Delta Militants Threaten to Bomb Oil Installations
Niger Delta Militant Group Threatens Oil Shutdown Over Alleged Wike Interference
A militant group from the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Force (NDDF), has issued a warning to the federal government, threatening to shut down major oil installations if Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike continues, in their view, to “undermine” the authority of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The group stated that President Bola Tinubu must act to restrain Wike or face severe economic repercussions.
In a statement on Sunday, NDDF spokesperson Justin Alabraba accused Wike of plotting to use his influence in Abuja to secure a court judgement that would halt local government funding to Rivers State.
The group asserted, “If any judge in Abuja delivers a ruling that financially cripples local governments in Rivers State, we will act immediately by shutting down vital oil installations. This will be our response to any attempt to disrupt governance in Rivers.

The NDDF further claimed that Wike has been “insulting and intimidating” Governor Fubara, allegedly utilising federal power to undermine the state’s leadership.
They cautioned that, if unchecked, these actions could escalate into broader conflicts, as they will not “tolerate any interference with local governance” in Rivers.
Alabraba emphasised that this was not an idle threat: “Enough is enough. Wike and Tinubu cannot continue to take the Niger Delta for granted. If Rivers State suffers, the nation will feel the impact.”
The escalating tensions between the federal and state levels highlight ongoing political divisions in the Niger Delta, raising concerns about possible disruptions to Nigeria’s oil industry.
As the region provides a significant share of the nation’s oil revenue, any shutdown of installations could severely impact the national economy.
