The Delta State Government has officially released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), with 85,049 of the 97,817 candidates who sat for the assessment recording passes. According to the official breakdown, a total of 12,241 candidates are scheduled for a resit, while 527 candidates were unsuccessful.

The examination was conducted directly by the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education from June 1 to June 5, 2026. It took place at designated centres located across the State under comprehensive measures put in place to ensure a smooth, credible, and transparent exercise throughout the period.
Performance Assessment and Official Reactions
Reacting to the outcome, the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, described the results as encouraging. He stated that the high success rate directly reflected the State Government’s sustained efforts aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes in schools.
Dr. Ashibogwu congratulated the successful candidates and warmly urged them to remain focused as they advance in their academic pursuits. Concurrently, he advised those candidates scheduled for a resit to take the opportunity seriously and prepare adequately.
Furthermore, the Commissioner reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the broader education system through effective supervision, comprehensive teacher support, improved learning facilities, and other strategic interventions aimed at raising academic standards. The Education Commissioner also added that access cards for checking the results are currently available at Principal’s offices for collection, completely free of charge.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Henry Akambe, noted that the release of the results marked another milestone in the State’s continuous drive to uphold standards and accountability within the education sector.
The Director of Examinations and Standards, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah, affirmed that the results were carefully processed and verified in strict line with established standards. She assured candidates and parents of the credibility of the exercise.
The Education Commissioner added that access cards for checking the results are available at Principal’s offices for collection, free of charge.
