Drama as Minister Wike orders Permanent Secretaries to ‘Bow’ before Tinubu (Video)
Minister Nyesom Wike Creates a Stir at Arterial Road N20 Commissioning
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), caused a bit of a stir earlier today during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N20 Expressway in Abuja.
The former Governor of Rivers State amused the crowd by instructing Permanent Secretaries to ‘bow’ before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in gratitude for their appointments.
The Arterial Road N-20, stretching from Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Expressway to Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), was officially named after Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka.
Wike remarked, “It is not when somebody dies that we will remember his contributions. It is good, in the lifetime of someone who has contributed to the greatness of this country, to recognize him, rather than waiting for him to die.”
He further added, “A dead man does not know what happens. I will appeal to you, sir, to let us recognize one of our own by naming this road after him. The only Nobel Laureate we have, who has made Nigerians proud in the world.”
Wike concluded with a personal note, “I recommend that this road be named Wole Soyinka Way. In that case, other people will have hope. People like me will have hope that tomorrow they will also recognize me.”
