This development comes on the heels of 27 out of 32 lawmakers in the Rivers state House of Assembly defecting from the PDP to the APC on Monday, December 11.

However, in a surprising twist, members of the APC and SDP have now aligned with Governor Fubara’s camp, denouncing what they term an “undemocratic move” to impeach the governor as the primary reason for their defection to the PDP.
Princewill Ogbobula, the state commissioner for youth development, asserted that Governor Fubara has not committed any offense warranting impeachment. He emphasized that the lawmakers who defected to the APC are yet to provide a concrete reason for serving an impeachment notice on the governor.
Haribo Wilson, former Ahoada west CTC chairman, echoed these sentiments, stating that he and 10 APC ward chairmen, ward executives, and 10 leaders of the APC have moved to the PDP.
Patricial Ogbonaya, the deputy governorship candidate of the SDP, expressed her support for Fubara, emphasizing that he has endorsed their son as the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
