Members of the Emmanuel Urhobo Catholic Joints Choir (EUCJC) have been urged to deepen their commitment to God’s work and embrace unity in their service to the Church during the choir’s annual seminar held at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Amuogodo, Sapele, Delta State.
Ejes Gist News reports that the seminar brought together choristers, clergy and members of the Catholic faithful from various parishes and zones for spiritual instruction, fellowship and musical presentations aimed at strengthening commitment to church ministry.
Speaking during the event, Rev. Fr. Bernard Olagba challenged choir members to avoid divisions, cliques and factional interests within the organisation, stressing that choir ministry should focus on glorifying God rather than personal recognition.
According to him, the effectiveness of church ministry depends largely on unity, love and cooperation among members.
“When we sing, we are not performing for ourselves. We are offering a sacrifice of praise to God. That offering becomes acceptable only when it is done with a united heart, in love and in truth,” Fr. Olagba said.
He urged members to see themselves as one family united by faith and a common mission of serving God through sacred music.
Rev. Fr. Martins Usesiri also encouraged participants to approach their responsibilities with dedication and a renewed sense of purpose, describing choir ministry as an important aspect of Christian worship.
He noted that working diligently for God requires commitment, discipline and faithfulness, adding that every rehearsal, hymn and liturgical service should be viewed as an act of worship.
The annual seminar provided an opportunity for members of the Emmanuel Urhobo Catholic Joints Choir to reflect on their role within the Church while receiving guidance on spiritual growth and effective service.
A musical presentation by the Sapele Zone formed part of the programme, with choristers showcasing performances that highlighted the role of sacred music in Catholic worship.

Participants were also encouraged to strengthen fellowship among themselves and remain committed to the values of unity, discipline and service that underpin the mission of the choir.
The seminar focused on equipping members with spiritual and practical guidance for effective participation in church activities while reinforcing the importance of using their talents in service to God and the wider Catholic community.
