BVAS Lawsuit: Court fixes date (March 8) to rule on INEC’s case against Peter Obi
The Court of Appeal in Abuja is scheduled to rule on the merits of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) request to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) used in the February 25 presidential election on Wednesday, March 8.
A three-member panel of the appellate court postponed ruling on the application to conduct a physical inspection of all BVAS used in the presidential election on Tuesday.
Recall that Obi and Labour Party, through their team of attorneys led by Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), stated that the purpose of the application was to allow them to extract data embedded in the BVAS “which represent the actual results from Polling Units.”
INEC, represented by a team of attorneys led by Tanimu Inuwa, urged the court to deny the application.

INEC insisted that granting Obi and the Labour Party’s request would interfere with its preparations for Saturday’s Governorship and National Assembly elections.
After hearing the parties’ arguments, the panel led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh postponed its decision until tomorrow (Wednesday).
