Breaking: Court Bars Chief Judge, Assembly Clerk from Engaging with Pro-Wike Lawmakers, What it means for Fubara

The Rivers State High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt has issued a restraining order against the Chief Judge and the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, preventing them from interacting with 27 lawmakers aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike.

Justice D. Jumbo Stephens delivered the ruling on Monday, following an ex-parte motion filed by the Attorney-General of Rivers State and Governor Fubara.

The lawsuit names Martin Amaewhule, 26 other lawmakers, the Chief Judge, the Clerk, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as defendants.

The court mandated that all parties maintain the current situation until a hearing on the motion for an interlocutory injunction. Specifically, the Chief Judge and Clerk are barred from accepting or acting on any resolutions or impeachment documents from the 27 lawmakers.

Additionally, the court instructed that the originating processes be served to the defendants by posting them at the gate of the Rivers State House of Assembly quarters.
