Ado Doguwa, majority leader of House of Representatives, charged with murder

Alhassan Ado Doguwa, , the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives in Kano, has been charged with murder for allegedly killing three people.

 

According to Abdullahi Kiyawa, the state police spokesperson, the lawmaker was arrested and charged in connection with the killings.

The lawmaker was allegedly involved in a violent clash between members of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) that resulted in the deaths of three people and the burning of the opposition party’s campaign office in Kano’s Tudun Wada Local Government Area.

 

 

According to police, the lawmaker was arrested and charged alongside other suspects.

“The lawmaker was charged with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, causing great bodily harm, and mischief by fire, inciting a riot,” a police spokesperson said.

 

According to residents, the violent clash occurred at the Dadin Kowa ward (Mr Doguwa’s ward) when NNPP agents called for the cancellation of the Dadin Kowa results due to alleged incidents of over-voting in the recently concluded presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr Ado Doguwa, who is running for re-election to represent the Tudun Wada, Doguwa federal constituency, is said to have arrived at the scene of the fracas to protest the alleged cancellation of the election results.
