Court orders INEC to upload results of governorship, State Assembly elections from polling units on March 11

The Lagos State Division of the Federal High Court on Friday issued an order mandating the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload the results of the March 11 governorship and state House of Assembly elections on its results viewing portal (IReV).

The presiding judge, Peter Lifu, gave the order in suit no: FHC/L/CS/370/2023 filed by the Labour Party, its governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and 40 others on Thursday.

Mr Lifu held that INEC must obey the electoral law by ensuring the immediate transmission of the result to the portal immediately after counting votes at various polling units.

“That leave is hereby granted to the applicant to apply for an order of mandamus compelling the defendant and all its agents and/or their privies or any persons acting under their directions to comply with and enforce the provision of clause 38 of the REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS, 2022, for the conduct of the governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos State on 11 March 2023 to wit: Mandating the presiding officer of all polling units to electronically transmit or transfer the result of the polling units, direct to the collation system and use the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to upload a scanned copy of the EC8A to INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) immediately after the completion of all the Polling Units. Voting and results procedures,” the judge ruled.

The order also restrained INEC from engaging the services of individuals or companies who are members of any political party in the distribution of electoral materials.

The applicants, through their lawyer, Ibrahim Abass, had sought declarations preventing INEC from engaging persons who are partisans from distributing election materials.

They also sought an order compelling the electoral body to adhere to the guidelines on the conduct of elections.

Additionally, “a declaration that the defendant and all its agents and/or their privies or any persons acting under their directions are bound to comply with and enforce the provision of clause 37 of the Regulations and Guidelines for the Conduct of Elections, 2022, for the conduct of the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in Lagos State on 11 March 2023 to wit: Mandating the presiding officer of all polling unit to paste the Publication of Result Poster EC60(E) at the polling units conspicuously after completing the EC8A result sheet.”

There’s No President-Elect, INEC Decision Won’t Stand – Pa Adebanjo

Pa Adebanjo has said that the INEC decision on the winner of the 2023 presidential election will not stand, insisting that there is no president-elect.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria reports that Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has claimed that there is no President-elect in Nigeria, insisting that the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the 2023 presidential election, will not stand.

Pa Adebanjo is one of the elder statesmen who publicly declared support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, on the ground that the people of the South East should be allowed to have a shot at the presidency for equity and justice to reign supreme.

See what Peter Obi said about Afenifere after pa Adebanjo joined his campaign in Oyo

The INEC declared Bola Tinubu winner of the February 25th, 2023 presidential election amidst an alleged wide range of irregularities across the country majorly due to the inability of the electoral umpire to keep its promise of deploying technology in the election.

While the BVAS failed in many states, some Governors were said to have hijacked the election and suppressed the will of the people, especially in Rivers State and Lagos State,

Appearing on Arise Television on Friday, Adebanjo said INEC’s decision on Saturday’s polls, as regarding the presidential election result, will not stand.

“I listened to the Chairman of INEC when Dino Melaye told him to suspend, not cancel the collation, citing a lot of irregularities so that he can correct them. He said ‘no I promise, if you let me complete this exercise, I’ll review it.

“As for the Chairman, those of us who know him know that he has not been the man that he should be. He’s a great disappointment. This is not the first time he would be disappointing Lagos people. In 2019, he deceived us and now he’s done it again thinking that Nigerian people are fools.

“And I said it before in this election nobody can Babangida us. It was a daylight robbery. The whole country supported you to amend the electoral law to ensure it is is transmitted by electoral law and at the time of the election you came back to fight us. What a shame. I’m only sorry for the country.

“I’m only sorry for the youths. But I warned you before, this government is a disaster… It’s a disaster that God will help us get rid of. There’s no President-Elect at all. It’s just a sham that will be removed in due course. We’re all living witnesses to it. Why won’t we follow the law provided for the election?”

In a statement sent to Ejes Gist News Nigeria on Friday, Risch stated that the “rush” of authorities to “accept” the results of the 2023 presidential election “will undermine our (the US’) ability to be an effective partner to all Nigerians, especially given their (Nigeria’s) longstanding desire for democracy.”

The full text of Risch’s statement is as follows: “The electoral process in Nigeria is widely regarded by election observers and many Nigerians as deeply flawed.

“It is disheartening to see the administration rush to accept the outcome before we have a complete picture of what transpired during this election process.

Labour Party and PDP in alliance talks ahead of governorship election

Encouraged by the outcome of last Saturday’s presidential election in Lagos State where the Labour Party defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC), there is an ongoing move to form an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), has confirmed talks with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The LP candidate told his supporters in Lekki area of Lagos that discussing with the PDP became necessary to forge a common front against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship contest next week.

According to GRV, the APC government has mismanaged the state’s resources; hence, he is in the race to give back the people what belongs to them.

His words: “We are talking to the owner of the structure of PDP. In the coming days, we will align with them to ensure that we take Lagos to the next level. People that are behind this movement are not moved by money; they are voting for hope, moved by the hope of a new Lagos and they are going to come out more than before. People have seen how one man in his interest rubbished the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) process; so, we are ready to fight.

“I have seen the pains of Lagos. We know for a fact that the current government will not reduce unemployment, but our government will make the youths productive members of the society. We are going to give them bright Lagos.

“We have come too far to turn back, I Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Rhodes-Vivour family from Lagos Island, a true blood of Lagos, promise to stand fast with you until the very end. When people are determined to make change happen, no force on earth can prevent them from making that change. So we must never give up.”

Speaking on fear of job losses, he said: “I also assure those in the employ of the state that none shall be victimised or made to lose their jobs when I assume office. We are coming to build a better Lagos for all.”

APC returns to drawing board, vows to takeover Oyo from G-5 governor, Makinde

APC has vowed to take over Oyo State from Seyi Makinde.

After allowing them to win with wide margin in the recently concluded Presidential Election, the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has advised the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of the Peoples Democratic Party, to prepare for his imminent defeat in the March 11 governorship election in the state.

The Director-General of Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance, Adebayo Shittu, made the call on Wednesday, at a press conference in Ibadan.

He said, “It will be recalled that Oyo State, as one of the foremost Yoruba states, had always been ruled by progressive parties under different names and colours.

However, the state fell into bad times under the last administration of the late Ishaq Ajimobi. Unfortunately, he could not manage the APC primaries for Local Governments, State Assembly, governorship and National Assembly.

“Consequently, all party members who aspired for one position or the other and who were wrongly disenfranchised decided to leave the party. Apart from exiting the APC, most of them joined Seyi Makinde and the rival PDP to defeat the APC in the 2019 general election.”

He said that development saw the emergence of Makinde as the state governor without the needed psychological preparation or required political experience.

According to him, “The results of last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections have shown clearly that our patriotic citizens of Oyo State have unanimously resolved to completely submit and support our great party, the APC, with almost half a million votes for our presidential candidate.”

The PDP state was won with wide margin by APC during the recent presidential election.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared winner of the election in Oyo.

Tinubu scored 449, 884 to beat Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who polled 182, 977.

Babatunde Olushola Kehinde, a Professor, Oyo State Presidential Election Presiding Officer, Professor who is the Acting Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta said Labour Party came distance third with 99, 110 votes, Accord had 39,514 votes while the NNPP scored 4, 095 votes.

18 political parties participated in the election.

Announcing the result Kehinde stated that the number of Registered voters in the state were 3, 237,310 while accredited voters stands at 854, 439.

According to him, with 449,884 votes scored by the candidate of the All Progressive Congress in the Presidential election, the party and therefore its candidate is declared the winner in Oyo State.

Supporting, the APC Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC) in Oyo State dismissed any standing agreement between the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as being speculated ahead of the March 11, 2023 governorship poll.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Central Media Presidential Gubernatorial Council, Mr. Kehinde Olaosebikan, the party said Makinde was only deceiving his members.

A member of the PCC, Nike Ajagbe, said Tinubu’s visit to Makinde on Thursday, February 16, 2023, during the presidential rally in Ibadan, had nothing to do with endorsement of the governor.

She described the president-elect as a party man, who cannot joke with the success of his party across the country, especially the South West, which is regarded as his stronghold.

Ajagbe explained that it was in the programme of the APC PCC to visit all the opposition governors whenever they are in their state for campaign; hence, nobody should see it as endorsement, but a privilege to host a widely accepted presidential candidate. Her words: “Being the governor of the state, the president-elect only visited Makinde as he did to other opposition governors whenever he visited their states.”

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, the presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu visited Gov Seyi Makinde at the Government House in Ibadan – an uncommon visit many has considered deal making since Mr Makinde has over time proven to be a powerful governor.

That month, Tinubu and other party chieftains in Nigeria were also in Ibadan for the presidential rally of the party.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded the immediate resignation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, as a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the naira redesign policy.

In a statement released on Friday, Salihu Lukman, the APC’s National Vice Chairman (North-West), echoed the claims of some APC governors that President Muhammadu Buhari was misled by those who did not want the APC to win the presidential election.

The supreme court ruled that the old N200, N500, and N1,000 naira notes must coexist with the new ones until December 31, 2023.

In response to the news, Lukman stated that public office holders such as Emefiele and Malami should accept their limitations and resign with dignity following such public office abuse.

He stated, “It is also regrettable that President Muhammadu Buhari could be misled into committing illegal acts and abusing his executive powers, as the Supreme Court has ruled. We and all Nigerians are grateful to the Supreme Court Justices led by Justice Akomaye for this historic intervention.

Also Read: BREAKING: APC accused Peter Obi and Atiku of using Russian hackers to prevent INEC from uploading election results

Godwin Emefiele and Abubakar Malami must take personal responsibility for this illegal act by the Federal Government, given the harmful nature of the consequences of the Federal Government’s cashless policy as it has been implemented to date and the damage to President Buhari’s reputation caused by the Supreme Court’s decision. In developed democracies, public officials who commit such illegal acts resign voluntarily from their positions.

“Therefore, if the cashless policy of the Federal Government was ostensibly intended to conform with existing legal provisions of the Nigerian Federation, and it turned out to be the exact opposite, both the CBN Governor, Mr. Emefiele, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Malami, should accept the limits of their knowledge of the law and commitment to democracy by resigning from their respective positions immediately.

The rule of law is fundamental to democracy, and individuals who flagrantly violate the laws or promote acts that violate the Nigerian Constitution must not be tolerated.”

Peter Obi Records First Court Victory Against APC and Tinubu

Peter Obi has recorded his first court victory against APC and Tinubu. at the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria reports that the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on Friday, 3 March 2023, secured leave of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital to have access to all the sensitive materials the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, deployed for the conduct of the presidential election held on February 25.

The appellate court, which will sit as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, equally ordered the electoral body to also grant the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar access to the election materials.

A panel of the appellate court led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh made the orders after it heard two separate ex parte applications the two aggrieved presidential candidates filed alongside their political parties.

Cited as respondents in the matter were INEC, the acclaimed winner of the presidential election, Bola Tinubu, as well as his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Both applications were predicated on Section146 (1) of the Electoral Act 2022, Paragraph 47 (1, 2 &3) of the First Schedule of the Electoral Act of 2022, as well as under the inherent jurisdiction of the Court as referenced by Section 6 (6) A & B of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

While Obi, in his application that was moved by his team of lawyers led by Mr Alex Ejesieme (SAN), sought six principal reliefs, Atiku’s lawyer, Mr Adedamola Faloku, sought seven prayers from the tribunal.

Specifically, the applicants urged the court to compel INEC to allow them to obtain documents in its custody that were used for the presidential election.

They maintained that the requested documents would aid their petition against the outcome of the presidential contest that was declared in favour of the candidate of the APC, Tinubu.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria recalls that INEC had declared Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the presidential poll, ahead of 17 other candidates that contested the election.

According to INEC, Tinubu scored a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku who polled a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Obi of the LP, who came third with a total of 6,101,533 votes.

The PDP acknowledged that only a coalition with other political parties could defeat the APC.

The PDP is joining forces with Accord Party (AP), Allied People’s Movement (APM), Because Of Our Tomorrow (BOOT party), Action Alliance (AA), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Peoples Party (APP), African Action Congress (AAC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Ladi Adebutu, the PDP candidate for governor, told members of nine political parties in Abeokuta that the move became necessary in light of the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday.

Adebutu, who was flanked by his running mate Adekunle Akinlade, accused the APC of rigging the previous elections and vowed that the PDP would not tolerate such behavior in the upcoming governorship election.

He urged members of other opposition parties to unite with the PDP in order to oust the APC and prevent the state of Ogun from collapsing.

Adebutu stated, “If we don’t fulfill our responsibility and allow the APC to run again, we will have failed and that will be the end of Ogun State; we will have lost the chance to save the state.

“Had Peter Obi and Abubakar Atiku collaborated, we would have won the election despite the rigging, which is why we must have this convergence, we must have the association we have today. We must unite; as separate entities, we will not succeed.”

Akinlade, on his part, accused the APC of planning to rig the governorship election and urged other parties to join the PDP.

While stating that the PDP alone cannot defeat the APC in Ogun, Akinlade stated that “we must work together to make it impossible for them to rig the election.”

“I have told people that those who fight for change and revolution may not be the direct beneficiaries of their efforts, but history has taught us that when power ends in the south, it will move to the north, and when it ends in the north, it will return to the south.

2023 Election That Produced Tinubu As President-Elect Not Perfect, Buhari’s Media Aide, Femi Adesina

Adesina disclosed this in an article titled, ‘FOR PMB, IT’S NIGERIA AND NOTHING ELSE’ shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday

Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity says that there were irregularities in the just concluded Saturday elections.

Adesina disclosed this in an article titled, ‘FOR PMB, IT’S NIGERIA AND NOTHING ELSE’ shared on his official Facebook page on Thursday.

Electoral Body, INEC had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the winner of the February 25 presidential election and subsequently the president-elect.

The former Lagos governor won with 8,794,726 votes, nearly two million more votes than his fiercest challengers, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 6,984,520 and Labour Party (LP)’s Peter Obi, who got 6,101,533.

The total votes cast were 24,965,218, out of which 939,278 were rejected votes.

However, PDP and LP had called for the cancellation of the presidential election over allegations that INEC did not comply with the law in the collation and announcement of results.

The PDP and LP first made their positions known at a Tuesday press conference attended by their vice-presidential candidates, Ifeanyi Okowa and Datti Baba-Ahmed respectively.

“The election was a sham, and never free and fair,” said Okowa of the PDP, a position corroborated by the LP’s vice-presidential candidate.

Their main grouse is that INEC failed to upload the results of elections in the over 170,000 polling units onto a central server (IReV) as required by law.

That step should have been done before the collation and announcement of results, they said.

In his article, Adesina admitted irregularities in the electioneering process but said his principal, President Buhari was never part of any ‘mago-mago’

He said, “The first phase of the 2023 elections has been held, to elect a new President, and National Assembly members. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared the winner and issued a Certificate of Return. Was it a perfect election? Not so. Electronic transmission of results failed, due to technical glitches, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had to resort to manual collation.

“Joseph Stalin, the Soviet Union tyrant had been credited with saying: ‘Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.’ But one thing is definite about President Buhari. He would never be part of any mago-mago or wuruwuru. Just give him unimpeachable evidence of underhand dealings, and he throws you away like a bad habit.

“The President’s first loyalty is to the country. Unflinching. Unassailable. Despite being a loyal party man, and committed to the candidate of his party, whom he went round the country campaigning for, he told Nigerians several times: vote for the candidate of your choice across the parties. That’s the heart of a father, a man beyond partisan considerations, as a democratically elected President.

“To prove cynics and septics wrong, the man displayed his ballot paper last Saturday, after voting for APC candidates. Some lawyers have criticized the action, saying it runs contrary to electoral laws. But we know why the President did it. To shut the mouths of conspiracy theorists, who had been trying to establish that he was against the candidate of his party.

“There are contentions about the declared results. Yes, it is part of good electoral practices that those who have issues should be listened to. Even the President himself challenged election results up to Supreme Court three times. When he was ruled out the third time, he said “God dey.” And God eventually showed up. The Almighty is still at work in Nigeria.

“President Buhari has provided a level playing field for all contestants in the election. Any other contrary thing was not at his instance or instigation. Couldn’t have been. He remains the authentic Nigerian hero, a stickler for integrity, accountability and rectitude.”

BREAKING: APC accused Peter Obi and Atiku of using Russian hackers to prevent INEC from uploading election results

APC has accused Peter Obi and Atiku of using Russian hackers to prevent INEC from uploading election results

On Friday, chief mobiliser for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded presidential election, Ekene Enefe, accused leading opposition parties, the Labour Party and Peoples Democratic Party, of spamming the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with several hack attacks.

According to Mr Enefe, the attacks were aimed at compromising the commission’s server to produce election results which are only favourable to their parties against the actual will of the voters.

Why APC chieftains began to suspect Buhari – Presidency Reveals

Speaking on Friday, Mr Enefe accused the parties of hiring foreign hackers to intrude on INEC’s server, an action which he later described as unsuccessful.

“Each party has a situation room. They (sic) …the result and they knew they were losing and they want to cling on something and what they want to cling on was the transmission of the result from the portal. People don’t know how many times INEC server was hacked and attacked and these were done by political parties that brought in Russian and Israeli hackers (sic) …to hack into INEC server and to transmit their own results and create chaos,” he said. “None of them succeeded.”

He further said the repeated hack attempts by opposition parties made the electoral body unable to transmit results electronically, stating, “That’s why, to the best of my knowledge, the election was not transmitted on INEC server.”

But the PDP, Atiku Abubakar’s spokesman, said, “It appears to me that this is a case of turning defence to attack. Tinubu and the APC compromised both the INEC chairman and INEC as an institution. The results were predetermined.”

“Is the APC trying to accuse the PDP of what they actually did?” added Mr Ibe.

The Labour Party could not be reached immediately for comments.

INEC’s spokesman Festus Okoye did not respond to requests seeking clarifications on the matter.

Wike rejoices over Tinubu’s emergence, thank Nigerians for supporting back-to-south presidency. Governor Nyesom Wike said that he is glad that power has been shifted to the south.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Friday thanked Nigerians for supporting the return of power to Southern Nigeria.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor said the issue of rotational presidency has been settled for good with the emergence of a President-Elect, Bola Tinubu, who is from the southern region of the country.

Today, Wike and Seyi Makinde, the counterpart from Oyo State, commissioned a 5,000,000-liter aviation fuel dispensing depot at the Ibadan Airport in the state’s Alakia region.

Ejes Gist News Nigeria had earlier reported that, the run-up to the February 25 presidential election, Wike, who lost the PDP presidential primary to Atiku Abubakar in May, was outspoken about his opposition to the former Vice President’s bid for the presidency in 2023.

On Friday, the governor of Rivers voiced his joy at Makinde’s support for a power shift to the south following the eight-year term of Muhammadu Buhari, the current president of Nigeria and a native of Katsina State in the North-West geopolitical zone.

“I am glad that (Makinde) is one of those who made history by ensuring that power shifted to the south,” added Wike.

“I have warned people that those who struggle for revolution and change might not directly benefit from their efforts, but history has shown that we all now understand that when power ends in the south, it will travel to the north, and when it ends in the north, it will come to the south.

So, it need not be expressly stated in the Constitution before being put into practise. And I appreciate Nigerians for maintaining their will to see that this problem arises.

Wike and Makinde are members of the G5 or the ‘Integrity Group’ who are aggrieved governors of the PDP.

Osun Guber Tribunal: President-elect, Tinubu under pressure to soft-pedal for Adeleke

The embattled governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is not leaving any stone unturned to retain his seat following his removal by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which ruled that the election that brought him to office did not comply substantially to the provisions of the law.

Since that time, the dancing governor alongside his elder brother, Dr Deji Adeleke, has put machinery in place to speak to the conscience of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to cease further actions aimed at installing his nephew, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, immediate past governor of the state.

Oyetola, 68, insurance tycoon, enjoys good relationship with Tinubu, said multiple sources, having, over the time, proven himself to the president-elect as a trustworthy confidant.

Sources confirmed Oyetola was in-charge of Tinubu’s business interests during the NADECO’s era and the accountability the former Osun governor exhibited solidified their familial and business partnerships.Given this quality relationship between the two family members, it was difficult for the emissaries sent by Deji Adeleke last year to convince Tinubu to game his nephew.

However, since the Tribunal ruling, and emergence of Tinubu as president-elect of Nigeria, efforts have been intensified to persuade Asiwaju to soft-pedal for Ademola Adeleke, to continue in office. It is believed that the president-elect has influence to mobilise the government structures to make the demand possible.

In return, the Osun governor would activate his political structure in PDP to rejoin the All Progressives Congress.Recall Ademola Adeleke’s elder brother, Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon) was a governor under the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, the same party that produced Tinubu as senator in 1992 and from that time, they shared decent political comradeship.Again, in 2014, when there was imbroglio in the Osun PDP, Tinubu made the defection of senior Adeleke to APC seamless.

Isiaka was elected APC senator in 2015 and he and his brothers were in APC until the untimely death of Serubawon in 2017 when Ademola rejoined the PDP.So his plan to rejoin the APC, the sources disclosed, is regarded as home-coming.

To give more life to their argument and make Oyetola’s case undesirable, the Adelekes are working around the clock to win all the 26 house of assembly seats in Osun State to project Ademola as the choice of the people whose mandate should not be tampered with.

They reason that emphatic wins in the March 11’s elections in the state would help the strategy of the emissaries, led by a popular billionaire from Kano, aimed at persuading the Jagaban of Borgu to consider their appeal.

Why Tinubu Will Not Be Sworn In As Nigeria’s President

The former Anambra helmsman said it was obvious that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, won the presidential election across the country.

Ex-Anambra governor, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has reacted to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, being declared winner of the presidential polls by INEC after Saturday polls

Ezeife stated that despite Tinubu being declared president-elect, he would not be sworn in as Nigeria’s president because the elections were not credible.

Ezeife said this while accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of manipulating the electoral process and rigging the Presidential and National Assembly elections in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC and its candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The former Anambra helmsman said it was obvious that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, won the presidential election across the country.

Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, said Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 to defeat his closest rivals and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP who scored 6,984, 520 and 6,101,533 respectively.

But Ezeife told Arise TV Morning Show that the presidential election revealed so many things to Nigerians.

He said, ”I thank all the foreign bodies who commented and condemned the integrity of the election and thank all Nigerians for the way they treated the Labour Party.

“In fact I’m happy with the result the Labour Party got from the election, not the ones announced by the INEC. Of course, we know that one is fake. But what we saw was the Labour Party winning Lagos and across the country.

“Some people who do not believe in the oneness of the country are now thinking otherwise. And the future of Nigeria is now brighter. I do not believe that Tinubu, my friend, would be sworn in as president.

“If that is done it’d be a disaster, but I think this thing has opened the eyes of Nigerians. We thank the Yorubas, and we thank Hausas and every group in Nigeria for this openness. Don’t mind the manipulation that made Peter Obi third.

“Everybody knows it is impossible, especially with the controversies surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket. One must distinguish between the election as conducted and the election as reported. Tinubu will not be the president of Nigeria. I don’t see him being sworn in.
