Breaking: Tinubu emerges Chairman of ECOWAS
Bola Tinubu has been appointed as Chairman of ECOWAS.
President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the Chairman of the Authority of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The announcement was made on Sunday in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau, during the 63rd Ordinary Session where President Tinubu attended the forum of West African leaders for the first time.

Taking over from the outgoing leader, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, President Tinubu assumed the chairmanship of the regional organization.
During the meeting, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of safeguarding the democratic culture within the sub-region, affirming that democracy is a challenging but indispensable form of governance.
As the Chairman, President Tinubu will play a pivotal role in guiding the ECOWAS member states towards economic development, political stability, and cooperation.

In his new position, President Tinubu will closely collaborate with member states, regional institutions, and international partners to implement initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, regional trade integration, and social development.
Furthermore, he is expected to prioritize strengthening the collective response of ECOWAS to security threats and fostering closer cooperation among member states to effectively address regional challenges.
