The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its primary election timetable for four newly restored State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states, alongside several other constituencies across the country. This announcement follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to restore these constituencies, as well as the scheduling of party primaries for the affected areas.
The development emerged after INEC, in a statement issued last Friday, announced the restoration of the State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states. The electoral body also set the dates for the conduct of party primaries for these restored constituencies from 21st to 25th August 2026.
According to the INEC statement, the timeline for these primaries aligns with the period designated for bye-elections to fill vacancies in several other constituencies.
These include the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State, the Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies of Bauchi State, the Udu State Constituency of Delta State, and the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency of Kano State. The elections for these constituencies have been scheduled for 19th September 2026.

In a separate statement, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, clarified that the restoration of the additional constituencies in Delta and Kogi states was carried out in accordance with court judgments directing the electoral body to reinstate them.
APC’s Primary Election Schedule and Constituencies Affected
In response to INEC’s announcement, the APC on Wednesday released a detailed list of constituencies where primary elections will take place.
In Delta State, the primaries will be held in the Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II State Constituencies. In Kogi State, the Yagba West II State Constituency has been included in the schedule.
The list also encompasses other key constituencies, including the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State, the Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State, the Udu State Constituency in Delta State, and the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
The primary election process for these constituencies commenced on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, and is expected to conclude on Monday, 24th August 2026.
Fee Structure for Aspiring Candidates
For candidates seeking to contest in the House of Assembly constituencies, the APC has outlined the following fee requirements:
- An expression of interest form costs N1 million.
- A nomination form is priced at N5 million.
Candidates vying for the House of Representatives seats are required to pay N1 million for the expression of interest form and N9 million for the nomination form, as stated in the official announcement.
The electoral body has also made provisions for special discounts. Female aspirants, youth candidates, and persons with disabilities are eligible for a 50% reduction on the nomination form fee for each position. However, they are still required to pay the standard N1 million for the expression of interest form.
