Ali Ndume Opens Up on ‘Leaving APC for PDP’ After Sack by Akpabio-Led Senate
Ali Ndume, the senator representing Borno South, addressed his political future following his ousting as senate chief whip.
Ndume’s removal came after his vocal criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, especially regarding the high cost of living.

Speaking in Maiduguri on Friday, July 19, Ndume responded to suggestions that he could join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other political party.
He said, according to Vanguard:
“I want to reiterate that, I am one of the founding members of the APC. It is the people of my constituency and my supporters who will decide whether I stay in APC, join another party, or quit politics. I will follow their advice.”
Ndume’s Troubles with the Senate
Ejes Gist notes that this is not Ndume’s first suspension from the senate. In March 2017, Ndume was sanctioned for ‘embarrassing’ his colleagues, Bukola Saraki and Dino Melaye. The upper legislative chamber acted on the recommendation of its committee on ethics and privileges, which suggested Ndume’s suspension for “deliberately” raising an issue that cast the senate in a negative light.
‘I Stand by My Statement’, Ndume Speaks
Previously, Ejes Gist reported that Ndume stood by comments made in a recent Arise Television interview. He asserted that he did not say anything wrong and described his removal as the chief whip of the senate as an “act of God.”
