Cairo, 26 October 2024. – The Libya Football Federation has been found in violation of regulations concerning the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Qualifiers, according to a recent decision by the CAF Disciplinary Board.
In a notification dated 26 October, the General Secretary of the Libya Football Federation received details of the disciplinary measures regarding their scheduled match against Nigeria, designated as Match No. 67, which was set to take place on 15 October 2024 in Benghazi. The decision follows a meeting of the CAF Disciplinary Board held on 23 October 2024, chaired by Mr. Ousmane Kane from Senegal, with members including Ms. Njeri Onyanga (Kenya), Mr. Felix Golbasa (Chad), Mr. Patrick Shale (Lesotho), and Mr. Norman Arendse (South Africa).
The Disciplinary Board concluded that the Libya Football Federation breached Article 31 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations, along with Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code. As a result, the board declared the match against Nigeria lost by forfeit, awarding Nigeria a 3-0 victory.

In addition to the forfeiture, the Libya Football Federation has been fined USD 50,000, which must be paid within 60 days from the notification of the decision. All other motions or requests for relief made by the Libya Football Federation were dismissed.
