Qualifications and Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following educational criteria based on the cadre they are applying for:
- Road Traffic Officer (Grade Level 08): B.Sc, B.Eng, or B.A (Hons.) in any discipline.
- Road Traffic Superintendent (Grade Level 08): Higher National Diploma (HND) in any discipline.
- Assistant Traffic Superintendent (Grade Level 06): National Diploma (ND) in any discipline.
- Traffic Assistant (Grade Level 04): WAEC/GCE/NECO/NABTEB with a minimum of four credits obtained in one sitting or five credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
Eligible Degree/HND Disciplines
For graduate and HND positions, the following disciplines are eligible:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- Transportation Management
- Computer Engineering / Computer Science
- Criminology / Security Studies
- Accountancy
- Statistics
- Business Administration

- Mass Communication (Graphic Design, Digital Media, or Information Communication Technology)

Traffic Assistant Cadre Requirements
Candidates applying for the Traffic Assistant cadre must possess the following:
- First School Leaving Certificate
- Senior Secondary School Certificate (WAEC/GCE/NECO/NABTEB) with four credits obtained in one sitting or five credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Eligible trades/crafts include:
- Driver/Mechanic (light duty vehicle drivers)
- Driver/Mechanic (heavy duty vehicle/Truck drivers)
- Plumber
- Electrician
- Uniform Tailor (paramilitary)
- Day & Night Security Guard
- Other relevant craft/trade
- Trade Test I, II & III is mandatory for applicants in the eligible trades/crafts category.
General Requirements for All Applicants
All applicants must fulfill the following general requirements:
- Must be of Delta State origin.
- Must possess a valid Local Government Area of origin certificate.
- Must be medically and physically fit, supported by a medical report.
- Must be of good character and have no criminal record or affiliation with any cult.
- Must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or possess a valid exemption certificate (for graduate positions).
- Graduate applicants must be computer literate.
- Shortlisted female applicants who are pregnant must produce a pregnancy test certificate from a Government Hospital.
- Age limit: 16 to 40 years.
