Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has declared a 24-hour curfew in response to escalating violence during protests against hunger. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Government House on Thursday.

Governor Yusuf stated, “After careful consideration, we have come to terms that a 24-hour curfew should be put in place to further prevent looting and vandalization of businesses and the killing of innocent citizens.”

He also directed all security agencies in the state to ensure full compliance with the curfew to restore peace in Kano.
