President Bola Tinubu has announced a state of emergency on food security in Nigeria, as revealed by his spokesperson, Dele Alake, during a press briefing on Thursday. Alake emphasized that the President is aware of the increasing cost of food and its impact on the financial well-being of citizens.

Alake further explained that President Tinubu has instructed that all issues related to the availability and affordability of food and water, essential items for sustaining livelihoods, should fall under the jurisdiction of the National Security Council.
