Tragedy Strikes as Two Yoruba Monarchs Gunned Down by Herdsmen in Ekiti State.

In a shocking and tragic incident, Ekiti State mourns the loss of two revered Yoruba monarchs, the Elesun of Esun Ekiti and the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, who were fatally shot today by armed herdsmen.

The heartbreaking incident unfolded between Oke-Ako and Ipao-Ekiti in the Ajoni Local Government Area of the state.

According to sources reported by Oodua News, the hereditary rulers were travelling together when they were ambushed by armed herdsmen.

The attackers, after stopping them, mercilessly opened fire, claiming the lives of the Elesun and Onimojo. Disturbingly, the assailants not only took their personal belongings but callously dragged their lifeless bodies into the bush.

In a stroke of fortune, another monarch, the Alara of Ara in Ikole Local Government, narrowly escaped the deadly assault. The armed men accosted the group of monarchs, attempting to forcefully take them away. The Alara of Ara managed to evade the tragic fate that befell his fellow monarchs.

The devastating news doesn’t end there, as reports indicate that the reign of terror extended to schoolchildren in Eporo Ekiti, Emure Local Government Area. Armed men ambushed a school bus, reportedly kidnapping school children in a brazen attack that has sent shockwaves throughout the community.

The Ekiti State community is left grappling with the aftermath of these heinous acts, demanding swift justice for the fallen monarchs and the kidnapped school children.
