Prominent Kano Imam, Sheikh Nasir Is Dead
Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, the Chief Imam of the Fagge Juma’at Mosque, passed away.
He passed away on Wednesday following a protracted illness and will be buried on Thursday at the palace of the Emir of Kano.

The deceased Islamic scholar was 87 years old and was commonly known as Limamin Waje.
The deceased was crowned Wazirin Kano by the late Emir Ado Bayero, but former Governor Rabiu Kwankwasa removed the turban.

Kwankwaso replaced him, citing security concerns; however, Nasir refused to resign.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed his condolences to the family, followers, and citizens of Kano.

In a statement, spokesperson Sanusi Bature described Nasir as “a scholar of repute” who contributed to the development of Islam.
The governor stated that Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir was a community leader and peacemaker.
In a related development, after a long battle with a terminal illness, Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo has passed away.
