APC Senator Returns Fire at PDP Governor Over Banditry Allegation.

The senator, APC-Bauchi South, Shehu Umar Buba, in a reaction, vehemently denied sponsoring banditry and described the accusation as “fabricated and malicious”.

The charges were filed by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed of the PDP, against Senator Haliru Dauda Jika representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District, following a petition he submitted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing Senator Buba of registering one suspected bandit, Abubakar Idris, and another, Zainab Aliyu Gado, for the Hajj pilgrimage.

The registration, according to Governor Mohammed, was made through the Buba legislative aide, Yahaya Ibrahim—a development the Senator denied ever existed, stating he has no such aide.

In a press statement made available to newsmen through his Legislative Assistant, Hassan Gajin Duguri, Senator Buba described the governor’s actions as part of a larger political vendetta against those who criticize his administration.

“The Governor’s sinister intentions cannot halt the winds of change gathering strength in Bauchi; his days of unethical actions are numbered,” Buba declared, emphasizing that the governor’s actions were mere self-serving vendetta.

The fresh development further escalates the political tussle that has been raging between Senator Buba and Governor Mohammed since some time ago when the Bauchi Emirate Council stripped Senator Buba of his traditional title of ‘Majidadin’ for allegedly disrespecting and humiliating the governor.

The situation between the two political leaders in Bauchi has gone from bad to worse.
