Human Rights Activist Comrade Silver witnessed the escalating tension. “The protest was initially peaceful. We advised protesters to start from Agbarha junction to avoid any trouble, especially on market day,” he said.

Silver further described a separate incident involving a police chase. “A police van chased a Mercedes 4matic car, blocked it, and threw tear gas inside. When they tried to arrest the boy in the car, I intervened, and he was released. However, another police vehicle insisted on arresting him, leading to market women pelting the police with water and stones. The police responded with tear gas and live bullets, eventually taking the boy to the station.”

Silver confirmed the shooting incident, noting that the injured protester was taken to a hospital by the Army, though he did not know the hospital’s name.

The protest continues to draw attention as residents demand answers and accountability for the police actions.
