Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old vice president of Bank of America, has been killed following a stabbing incident in Times Square, located in New York City, United States.

According to a report by New York Times, Piacenti, who worked within the financial institution’s business selection and conflicts unit, was attacked on Monday during an incident that also left another person injured.

The banking giant confirmed her death in an official statement provided to Reuters on Tuesday, expressing shock and grief regarding the tragic loss of their employee.

In its statement, the bank expressed:

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague. She was a valued teammate who will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones.”

Details of the Incident and NYPD Response

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stated during a news briefing on Monday that a woman armed with several knives attacked two individuals in Times Square.

Mayor Mamdani noted that responding police officers intervened during the incident, utilizing a Taser prior to opening fire. The New York Police Department subsequently confirmed that Piacenti suffered multiple stab wounds during the attack and was pronounced dead.

 

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that preliminary findings indicate the attacks appeared to have been random and unprovoked.

The NYPD officially identified the suspect as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who was killed by police officers as they responded to the ongoing attack.

The police department indicated that investigations regarding the circumstances surrounding the fatal event remain ongoing.

Piacenti’s death occurred close to Bank of America’s Manhattan operations. The financial corporation’s Manhattan office is located at One Bryant Park, situated near Times Square.
