The Nigerian Army has announced the appointment of new General Officers Commanding (GOCs) for four newly created divisions, as the expanded formations begin operations across the country.
Ejes Gist News reports that the appointments are part of a major reorganisation approved by President Bola Tinubu to increase the Army’s strength from eight to twelve divisions.

Investigations by Ejes Gist News reveal that the creation of the new divisions — numbered 5, 9, 10 and 83 — is part of a strategic expansion aimed at enhancing the Army’s operational effectiveness in the face of emerging security challenges.
The deployments are expected to improve command and control in key regions, with commanders tasked to tackle insurgency, banditry and other threats.
