Katsina Governor Vows to Personally Confront Bandits in Forest
In a resolute declaration, Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed his unwavering commitment to join security forces in the fight against bandits plaguing the state.
During an interview with BBC Hausa, Governor Radda affirmed his readiness to put his life on the line to bring an end to the scourge of banditry once necessary arrangements are in place.
Security remains a paramount concern for Governor Radda, leading to the enactment of legislation establishing a volunteer force armed with weapons to bolster security efforts.

The governor inaugurated the Community Watch Corps on Tuesday to complement the work of conventional security agencies in combating banditry within the state.
“We have inaugurated, trained, and equipped the volunteers, providing them with cars, motorbikes, and even armoured cars,” affirmed the governor.
Governor Radda addressed concerns about allowances for the volunteers, emphasizing that they will be remunerated in accordance with the minimum wage system.
He emphasized that these volunteers serve out of a sense of duty to safeguard their families and communities.

Responding to critics who suggest that patrols may exacerbate the security situation, the governor dismissed such claims as baseless.
He urged residents of affected areas to remain vigilant and resist allowing bandits to continue their reign of terror through kidnappings and violence.
Governor Radda made an emphatic pledge: “I swear, as governor, even at the cost of my life, I will not allow someone to come and harm my people.

The problem of banditry has reached a point where we must all unite and put an end to it.
Those who oppose these measures are likely motivated by the fact that their loved ones are not the ones being killed. Once all necessary preparations are complete, I will also enter the forest.”
