In order to determine whether to press charges against Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has written to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali.

The panel also decided to write to Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in order to inform President Muhammadu Buhari about the “unwholesome” conduct of the REC and perhaps have his appointment reviewed.

The Commission met on Tuesday in Abuja, and the decisions were a result of that meeting.

The process of collation in Adamawa will resume at a time to be decided by the Returning Officer, it was noted.

“The Commission considered issues related to the Adamawa Governorship election at its meeting today, April 18, 2023, and determined to:

“Write to the Inspector-General of Police requesting an immediate inquiry and potential criminal charges against Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State.

Ask the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to alert the hiring authority to the REC’s unwholesome behaviour so that further action can be taken.

The commission stated that “the collation process shall resume at a time to be determined by the Returning Officer”.
