Former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Tavoro Nyame, shared profound insights gained during his time in the Kuje correctional center and hospital.

He expressed a commitment to evolve into a more capable leader if given another chance to serve the state.

Addressing attendees at a thanksgiving service held at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) state secretariat in Jalingo, Nyame emphasized the transformative power of his incarceration.

“I learned a lot while in Kuje Prison and the hospital. If given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State, I will do better because of the experience I have gained,” he said.

Despite serving only four years of a 14-year sentence, Nyame asserted that his imprisonment was politically motivational reflections extended beyond personal grievances, delivering a message of hope and unity for Nigerians. He underscored the vital role of prayer and faith in shaping the nation’s future.

Nyame’s call for prudence in personal expenses and a plea to the government to prioritize policies improving citizens’ lives resonated in his address. The former governor urged leaders to stand strong in the face of challenges, emphasizing the significance of faith and resilience.

Ejes Gist News recalls that Jolly Tavoro Nyame faced conviction. On May 30, 2018, Nyame was convicted by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, under the ruling of Justice Adebukola Banjoko for the charges against him and was sentenced to 14 years in prison. He was instructed to refund the monies he had diverted.
