Hardship Protest is Anti-Islamic, Cleric Tells Katsina Youths
The Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’kamatus Sunnah in Katsina, Sheikh Yakubu Musa, called on the state youth not to be part of the protest against economic hardship earmarked for the country.
Addressing the Muslim faithful after Friday prayers at Al-Sanawiyya Mosque in Katsina, Sheikh Musa said protests ran contrary to Islamic teachings. He allowed that serious economic hardships faced citizens but observed that protests would not solve the problem and might even worsen it.

“The government has been informed of the economic hardship citizen face, and we call on the authorities to take measures to alleviate the situation,” he said.
He warned that protests might actually increase hardship, rather than lessen it. “Like here in Katsina, we are also disturbed by insecurity. We should shun the planned protest. We should not be part of it. Our youths should also shun being part of it. Because it could destroy the nation, we have seen what happened in some countries where, as a result of protest, the countries had been thrown into war and total destruction.”
On the Samoa agreement, Sheikh Musa explained that emissaries of various Islamic sects had deliberated on the issue with emissaries of the federal government. He went ahead to assure the congregation that the people representing the government had assured him that LGBTQ issues were not part of the agreement.
