Gunmen Kill  Pastor Musa Hyok, Sons In Plateau

 

Reverend Musa Hyok and his two sons were murdered by gunmen in the Ganawuri community of Riyom Local Government Area, Plateau.

 

On Monday in Jos, DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident to journalists.

Alabo, who claimed that the deceased cleric was a priest of the Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN), was murdered early on Sunday.

 

“The command has begun an investigation to identify those responsible for the attack,” he said.

 

Mr. Song Moro, the community’s Youth Leader, claimed that the incident was a reprisal for the murder of three youths in the community.

 

“The trouble began when some suspected kidnappers were arrested last Wednesday, which is our market day, but later escaped from the vigilantes who were supposed to hold them until the arrival of security personnel.

“Despite numerous meetings and appeals for calm, the situation degenerated into an argument, which then escalated into a clash that resulted in the death of three Fulani youths.

 

“We suspect that the situation led to this attack on an innocent family who had no knowledge of the incident on Wednesday,” he said.

 

Moro reported that the pastor and his sons were buried today in Ganawuri axis amid tension and tight security.
