Ex-soldier arrested for allegedly supplying weapons to Boko Haram in Bauchi

The Nigerian Army has disclosed the arrest of a former soldier who is suspected of supplying weapons to Boko Haram members in Bauchi State.

 

The apprehension took place on 18 July 23 in Boi, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

 

Initial investigations have indicated that the detained person had been discharged from service in 5 Brigade Damasak.

As part of the operation, troops confiscated two pistols, two magazines, and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition from the suspect.

 

Furthermore, on the same day, the army conducted another mission in Yobe State, resulting in the capture of two individuals suspected of being logistic suppliers to Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists at Kukareta Market in Damaturu LGA.

 

In addition to the apprehensions, two mobile phones and the amount of Seven Thousand Two Hundred and Sixty-Five Naira (N7,265.00) were retrieved, along with various other miscellaneous items.

These operations form a crucial aspect of the continuous endeavors by the Nigerian Army to counter insurgency and uphold security in the region.
