An Enugu Air aircraft skidded off the runway after landing at Benin Airport on Wednesday, triggering an emergency response. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated with no injuries or fatalities, the airline said.
No Casualties Reported
“The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures,” the airline said in a statement.

An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway.”
The incident temporarily disrupted flight operations as emergency responders secured the aircraft.
Enugu Air said the runway excursion may result in temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Affected passengers will be contacted directly and provided with necessary assistance.
The airline assured the public that safety remains its highest priority. It said it is cooperating fully with aviation authorities as investigations continue.
NSIB Launches Probe
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau said it will investigate the runway excursion involving the Embraer E170 aircraft. The aircraft, operating as Flight 4264 (registration 5N-ENR) from Lagos to Benin, overran the end of Runway 05 during landing.
“The NSIB’s Go Team was mobilised and on the ground at the occurrence site within minutes of notification,” said Mrs. Funke Adebayo-Arowojobe, director of public affairs and family assistance at NSIB.
The team is gathering and preserving evidence, interviewing the flight crew and other relevant personnel, examining the aircraft, assessing runway conditions, and reviewing all other relevant operational and technical information.”
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and relevant airport authorities have been notified.
The aircraft has been secured. Enugu Air thanked passengers for their understanding and said further updates would be provided through official channels.
