The governorship candidate of the all-progressive grand alliance APGA, Chief Great Ogboru, has walked out of the Delta governorship debate 2023 currently being held in Warri, Delta State.

The Ogboru walkout comes following the Arise TV management agreement to organize another debate for Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Right Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, governorship candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party.

Halfway through the Delta governorship debate of 2023, the Arise TV management read a letter on the floor from the governorship candidates of the APC and PDP stating the reason they were absent.

Following their absence, the debate team decided to offer them another opportunity for Senator Ovie Omo-agege and Sheriff Oborevwori to come and debate.

However, this angered Ogboru, and he walked out with his supporters.

Ogboru said the action of Arise TV to organize another debate for Omo-Agege and Sheriff is a conspiracy and an insult to Deltans.

Also, the other governorship candidates, Ken Pela of the Labour Party, Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party, and Sunny Ofehe of the Young Progressives Party, who were present at the debate, expressed their anger but decided to continue with the debate and vow to attend the rescheduled debate.

Despite the fact that Delta State is the second-largest oil-producing state in Nigeria, the state has been entangled with poor governance and a lack of development to show for all the large allocations it received from the federal government.
