Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has refused a request for Justice Binta Nyako to recuse herself from the case of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The request was made by Kanu during his last appearance in court. Speaking to journalists and associates, Kanu expressed that he had lost confidence in Justice Nyako over the handling of his case, accusing the judge of disregarding Supreme Court orders.

Although Nyako initially agreed to recuse herself following an oral application from Kanu and his counsel, Justice Tsoho ultimately returned the case file to her, stating that two judges had already been recused from Kanu’s terrorism case since 2015.
Describing Nyako as the most suitable judge to handle the IPOB leader’s matter, Tsoho emphasized that she has been involved in the case for the longest time.

He further stated that should Kanu insist on recusing Justice Nyako at his next appearance, he must file a written motion accompanied by an affidavit detailing all grounds for the request.
Confirming the development, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s counsel, stated that his team is awaiting a hearing notice from the court regarding this matter.
