Tinubu’s Media Aide Accused of Burning GTB Bank After Threats Surface Online
ABUJA – X, formerly known as Twitter, is ablaze with controversy after President Bola Tinubu’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, was accused of involvement in the arson of a GTBank branch in Abuja. The accusations stem from a resurfaced post he made in 2012, threatening to set fire to a GTBank branch.
In the now-viral post, Olusegun wrote, “I will burn up a GTB bank branch one day! Dis nonsense is getting too much.” This message has resurfaced and gained traction after a GTBank branch was set on fire in 2023.
An X user with the screen name Harry, handle @chiditweets042, shared a screenshot of Olusegun’s post alongside an image of the burnt GTBank branch. Harry captioned it, “Who burnt GTBank in Abuja in 2023? Did it take @DOlusegun to hatch his plan? Chisos! Chisos.”

The accusations have sparked widespread reactions online. Human rights advocate Rinu Oduala, known on X as @SavvyRinu, reacted with alarm. “Wow!!! He must be part of those who tried to burn bank branches during the EndSARS protests. He has been planning it for a while. @PoliceNG arrest him!”
Another user, Ghost, handle @Snillocbaba, called for an official investigation. “@PoliceNG please cause an investigation to be carried out on @DOlusegun, he threatened violently to burn down your branches across the country, the evidence tends to show that the arson during the EndSARS protest is linked to him, he should be invited for query.”
Adding to the chorus of calls for action, 𝕺𝖒𝖔𝖛𝖎𝖊® stated, “Probably the master planner of the mayhem in LAGOS.”
As of now, neither Dada Olusegun nor the Nigerian Police have issued an official statement regarding these allegations.
