Tinubu Approves Reconstitution of Nigeria Police Academy Council, Releases Full List.

 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the governing council of the Nigeria Police Academy, appointing a 16-member body to oversee the institution’s administration and strategic direction.

 

The development forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen police training and institutional governance within the Nigeria Police Force.

 

Ejes Gist News reports that the reconstituted council includes key government officials and representatives drawn from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

Minister of Police Affairs Named Council Chairman

According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the President appointed the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, as chairman of the governing council.

The council also comprises statutory members, including:

• The Chairman of the Police Service Commission
• The Inspector-General of Police
• One representative each from:
  • The Federal Ministry of Education
  • The Federal Ministry of Finance
  • The Federal Ministry of Justice

The President also appointed six members to represent the country’s geopolitical zones:

1. Babagana Zannah Adam – North East
2. Emmanuel Torkuma Manger – North Central
3. Maigari Abati Dikko – North West
4. Dubem A. Obaze – South East
5. Ajibogere Toyin – South West
6. Udom Udo Ekpoudom – South South

Ex-Officio Members of the Council

The statement further clarified that several officials of the academy will serve as ex-officio members of the council. These include:

• The Commandant of the Academy
• The Provost
• The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of training

In addition, the Registrar of the Academy will serve as the secretary of the council, providing administrative coordination for its activities.
