NYSC Director-General Confirms Corps Members’ Inclusion in New Minimum Wage Negotiations.
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Y.D Ahmed, revealed that serving corps members nationwide will be included in the ongoing discussions for a new minimum wage.
This announcement was made on Saturday during his visit to the Ogun State NYSC orientation camp in Sagamu.

Addressing the 2,762 corps members in the three-week orientation course, Brigadier-General Ahmed assured them of their inclusion in the salary negotiations.
He praised the corps members for their active participation in the orientation and urged them to embrace the discipline and collective spirit fostered in the camp.
The NYSC leader warned corps members against sharing unauthorized pictures of camp activities on social media, noting that three corps members had already been decamped for such violations.

He also cautioned against unauthorized travel, emphasizing the Scheme’s focus on their safe return home after service.
This announcement comes amid ongoing debates between organized labor and the Federal Government over a new minimum wage for workers. The tripartite committee suggested N62,000, governors proposed N57,000, while organized labor demanded N250,000.
The Federal Government stated that President Bola Tinubu would hold further consultations with governors and the private sector before finalizing the new minimum wage.
