Gunmen abduct former lawmaker, Festus Edughele
Festus Edughele, a man who formerly served in the House of Assembly for the state of Edo, has been taken captive by armed men.
Ejesgist.ng has learned, the attack took place early on Monday morning as Edughele was travelling to Benin City, which is the capital of the state.

“He was taken hostage early this morning in Ubiaja while he was travelling from Orhionmwon to Benin.
Festus Ebea, a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, stated to the press that the family is aware of his kidnapping, the police division in that area has been informed, and we hope action will be taken to rescue him.

This online newspaper was unable to secure Chidi Nwanbuzor, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, for an interview for the purpose of publishing official comments.
The former lawmaker was taken hostage just two days after approximately thirty passengers were kidnapped at the Ekehen train station in the same Edo State.

Because of the incident, the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the station will be closed indefinitely until further notice.
