Benue Monarch Butchered In His Palace As Killers Spend 20 Minutes Raining Bullets.

MAKURDI, NIGERIA – In what can only be described as a blood-curdling assault on traditional institution and humanity, gunmen have broken into the palace of a monarch in Benue State, brutally killing the traditional ruler, his wife, his son, and three other residents.

Ejes Gist News gathered that the deadly attack occurred on Thursday night in the Olegabulu community, Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

HOW KILLERS STRUCK FEAR INTO THE COMMUNITY

According to a resident who pleaded anonymity, the armed men—numbered about four and arriving on two motorcycles—entered the community like ghosts in the night.

In a chilling twist, the killers reportedly exchanged pleasantries with locals in the native dialect, lowering everyone’s guard before heading straight to the royal residence.

“Once inside the palace, they opened fire without warning,” the source told Ejes Gist News. “They killed the traditional ruler, his wife, and his son right on the spot.”

THE HORROR DID NOT END THERE

The attackers, according to eyewitnesses, spent no fewer than 20 minutes in the community—an eternity of terror.

After the palace massacre, they reportedly moved to a nearby compound where they killed two additional residents and left another person battling for his life before speeding away on their motorcycles.

The Chairman of Agatu Local Government Area, Melvin Ejeh, confirmed the grim incident.

“Five people were killed, and one person sustained injuries,” Ejeh told Ejes Gist News. He added that security operatives, including police personnel, have since visited the scene of the attack.

However, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Benue State, DSP Udeme Edet, said she was yet to receive full details of the attack at the time of this report.

Editorial Commentary: A NATIONAL DISGRACE

This is not just another attack. This is a direct assault on the soul of Benue State.

When gunmen can freely spend 20 minutes—time enough to drink a cup of tea—in a community, killing a first-class citizen and his bloodline, where is the security architecture? This coordinated and deceptive attack raises serious questions about intelligence gathering and community policing in Nigeria.

Ejes Gist News demands that the Benue State Government and the Inspector General of Police fish out these killers.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.
