The Abia State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has arrested a suspected car thief in Aba and successfully recovered a stolen vehicle from him.

The Assistant Road Commander (Public Education) of FRSC in Abia, Chinwendu Enyioko, made this known in a statement on Sunday.

Enyioko said that the stolen Toyota Camry with registration number URL 974 TY was recovered in Aba through FRSC National Vehicle Identification Scheme.

The Assistant Commander noted that the car was recovered when the suspect brought vehicle to the Desk Officer of FRSC in Aba for change of ownership, explaining that the suspect and the recovered stolen vehicle have been handed over to the police for further investigation.

The Public Education Officer of FRSC advised the public to register their vehicles on the National Vehicle Identification Scheme platform, saying that eight vehicles have been recovered in the past two years through the NVIS.

The Assistant Commander further sensitised that registration of vehicles on the NVIS provides security agencies in the country with useful intelligence.
