The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) will begin its two-day 2026 Annual Conference and 6th Annual Lecture Series on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with a business workshop aimed at helping members build digital media enterprises that are both sustainable and profitable.

The workshop is billed for 11:00 a.m. at the Ministry of Information Conference Hall, Professor Chike Edozie State Secretariat Complex, Mariam Babangida Way, Asaba, and will centre on the theme, “Beyond Traffic: Building Sustainable and Profitable Digital Media Businesses.”

Mr Charles Aniagwu, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour and declare the workshop open.

A regular fixture of the DOPF annual conference programme, the business workshop gives members a platform to scrutinise the commercial realities of digital publishing, exchange professional experiences and work out ways of strengthening their media businesses.

Professor Presley Obukoadata will serve as Chief Trainer, with Professor Majority Oji as Guest Trainer. Both communication scholars are expected to address the challenges and opportunities confronting online publishers in a media environment that is increasingly competitive and driven by technology.

Obukoadata, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Southern Delta University, Ozoro, has expertise in brand management, strategic communication and metacommunication, while his research interests span artificial intelligence, media ecology, public relations and digital transformation.

His session is expected to explore how publishers can strengthen their media brands, take advantage of emerging technologies, deepen audience engagement and build dependable revenue streams rather than relying on web traffic.

Oji teaches in the Department of Mass Communication/Film and serves as Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at Delta State University, Abraka, and brings experience in journalism, development communication, public opinion, propaganda and disinformation.

A former Vice President of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, he is expected to speak on credible content, professional standards and responsible digital publishing in a climate where misinformation can erode public trust.

According to the organisers, the workshop will help members weigh editorial integrity against the need to generate revenue, manage operational costs and keep their publications going over the long term.

In a statement, Deacon Chijioke Williams Ugbolue, Chairman of the DOPF Annual Conference and 6th Annual Lecture Series Planning Committee, and the committee’s Secretary, Comrade Josephine Omodior, urged members to take an active part and apply the knowledge acquired to improve their editorial and business operations.

The workshop forms the opening day of the two-day conference, while the 6th Annual Lecture is slated for the second day, Wednesday, October 21, 2026, as part of the Forum’s wider engagement with issues touching the media, governance and society.

Members have been asked to arrive early and be seated by 10:30 a.m. ahead of the workshop’s 11:00 a.m. start.
