Inflation Rate Rises To 22.22%

 

The inflation rate in Nigeria has increased, according to recent reports.

 

The national inflation rate increased for the fourth consecutive month in April, from 22.04 percent in March to 22.22 percent.

According to the Commodity Price Index report published by the National Bureau of Statistics on Monday, this is the case.

 

The headline inflation rate for April 2023 was 0.18 percentage points higher than the headline inflation rate for March 2023.

 

Comparatively, the headline inflation rate in April 2023 was 5.40 percentage points higher than the rate recorded in April 2022, which was 16.82 percent.

In another development, An afrobeat musician,Seun Kuti have been arrested and taken into custody for assaulting a police officer.

 

Earlier today, he turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, accompanied by his attorney and a family member.

 

The arrest was confirmed by police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement.

 

Hundeyin stated that Kuti had been detained in accordance with the law and that an ongoing investigation into the incident would be conducted professionally and in a transparent manner.

The police assured the public that justice would be carried out.

 

Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, reportedly ordered the arrest after a video of Kuti assaulting a uniformed police officer went viral.

 

The Lagos State Police Commissioner was ordered to take immediate action.
