APC Suspends 7 Loyalists of Tinubu’s Minister Lokpobiri in Bayelsa Over Anti-Party Activities.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State has suspended seven members loyal to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension follows accusations that the individuals openly supported candidates from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 elections.

Among those suspended are key figures such as Kharim Kumoko, Bayelsa State Commissioner for Power, Peres Biewari, Commissioner for Lands and Survey, and Jothan Amos, a former APC state chairman.

The suspended members are accused of working for Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP during the National Assembly, presidential, and governorship elections.

In a letter signed by Jonah Abeke, the APC Chairman in Sagbama Local Government Area (LGA), the party stated that the suspension followed the recommendation of a disciplinary committee.

The letter outlined that the suspended members’ actions breached the APC constitution, particularly Article 21, which deals with anti-party activities.

The suspended individuals, including other prominent members such as Sabi Morgan, Southern Ijaw APC Youth Leader, and ex-officio member Godbless Diriwari, are alleged to have openly worked against the APC’s interests during the elections. The party emphasized that their activities had brought the APC into disrepute.

The APC’s executive committee in Sagbama LGA has transmitted the suspension decision to the State Executive Committee for ratification, signaling a significant internal shake-up within the party as it prepares for future political engagements in Bayelsa State.
