I’m Not Fugitive,” British citizen, Andrew Wynne Wanted By Nigeria Police opens up
British Citizen Declared Wanted by Nigerian Police Denies Allegations of Plotting Against Tinubu’s Government.
A British citizen, Andrew Wynne, who has been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu, has strongly denied the accusations against him.
In an exclusive interview with Channels Television, Wynne refuted the claims, asserting his innocence and willingness to cooperate with Nigerian authorities.
Earlier on Monday, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi briefed journalists in Abuja, alleging that Wynne had created a network of sleeper cells with the intent to destabilize the country and overthrow its democratically elected government.

Adejobi emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force has launched an extensive investigation into the activities of foreign nationals and subversive elements accused of plotting to destabilize the nation through unconstitutional means and orchestrated violence.
Adejobi also revealed that nine suspects have been arrested in connection with the alleged plot. These individuals are accused of receiving significant financial backing from foreign sources aimed at fomenting unrest in Nigeria.
Responding to these serious allegations, Wynne stated that he was unaware of being declared a fugitive and insisted that he has no involvement in any plot to destabilize Nigeria. He highlighted his longstanding ties to the country, having visited Nigeria for 25 years and operated a bookshop within the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) offices in Abuja for the past seven years. Wynne noted that, during this time, the security forces had shown no interest in him.
“I only hold one nationality, and the name on my passport is Andrew Wynne, though I have a nickname. I am more than willing to speak with the police, whether via WhatsApp, Zoom, or even in person at the Nigerian High Commission in London. If they wish to initiate a dialogue, I am fully prepared to engage,” Wynne said.
Andrew Wayne’s wife Denies Allegation.
In a separate interview, Wynne’s Nigerian wife also vehemently denied the allegations against her husband. She argued that the accusations were baseless and motivated by a personal vendetta rather than any political conspiracy. According to her, the real issue stems from a financial dispute involving a Nigerian man who allegedly owes her husband money and is attempting to avoid repayment by falsely accusing Wynne.
“We’ve been together for nine years, with eight years of friendship before we finally married last year. My husband is being falsely accused; he has never been involved in any terrorist activity. The real issue is that a man named Mr. Olumide owes my husband and doesn’t want to pay him,” she stated.
She further explained that the matter is currently in court and that her husband is in the UK due to his visa expiring, which required him to return. She added that if not for these visa issues, her husband would have returned to Nigeria by the end of September.
As the investigation continues, the case has attracted significant attention, with Wynne and his supporters adamant about his innocence, urging for a fair and transparent process in resolving the matter.
