Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday predicted that opposition parties would likely accuse President Bola Tinubu of rigging the 2027 presidential election if he secures a second term, urging supporters to focus on voter mobilisation.
Akpabio made the remarks while receiving members of the City Boy Movement, a pro-Tinubu support group, during a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
Addressing the delegation, the Senate President described the movement as a growing political force capable of strengthening the President’s electoral support nationwide, likening it to a wind blowing across the nation that may not be seen but can be felt. He added that every political party in Nigeria is already feeling its impact.

He said the group would help ensure the ruling All Progressives Congress has representatives at every polling unit during the next general election, stressing that never again would there be a situation where the President lacks an agent at any polling unit. He noted that many votes that went uncounted in the last election would have counted had the movement existed then.
Akpabio urged members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and voter education ahead of 2027, arguing that other parties were not making similar efforts.
He added that when President Tinubu’s victory is eventually announced, people would claim it was rigged and make various allegations, but urged the group to ignore such claims and remain focused.
