Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of the Ijaw Nation and chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, said he received the news with sadness and did not expect it at that time.
In a condolence message signed by his media consultant, Dr Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo recalled Uduaghan’s role during the militancy era in the Niger Delta, including the former governor’s support for the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
He also reflected on the pipeline surveillance contract awarded during the tenures of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan — a period in which Uduaghan governed Delta State and worked closely with federal authorities on Niger Delta stability.
Tompolo said the former two-term governor would be greatly missed, and prayed that God would grant his family and all those affected the strength to bear the loss.
