Thousands of supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday staged a solidarity rally in Yola, Adamawa State, endorsing him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

The rally, organised in support of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, attracted a large crowd and disrupted business activities along major routes in the state capital.

The procession began at the Government House gate, moved through Unity Roundabout and Bank Road, and ended at the Government House, where the Coordinator of the Adamawa State Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Mohammed Salihu, popularly known as Abba Girei, addressed the supporters.

Speaking at the rally, Salihu said Adamawa State had sufficient reasons to remain grateful to Tinubu, citing what he described as the President’s past political support for prominent politicians from the state, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Salihu: Tinubu Supported Atiku, Ribadu

According to Salihu, Tinubu played significant roles in the political journeys of some prominent Adamawa politicians, including Atiku and former presidential candidate Nuhu Ribadu.

“In 2007, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu single-handedly gave Alhaji Atiku Abubakar a presidential ticket to run under Action for Democracy (AD), and in 2011, he gave Mallam Nuhu Ribadu a presidential ticket to run under ACN,” he said.

He also recalled Tinubu’s support for former President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the 2015 presidential election, arguing that the President had demonstrated loyalty and political generosity to others and deserved similar support in return.

“In 2015, Tinubu lifted the hands of the late President Muhammadu Buhari and assured him of becoming President despite multiple failed attempts, and he won.

“We can only tell Tinubu we are grateful because he has done so much, and we can’t betray him,” Salihu said.

He maintained that the people of Adamawa should reciprocate Tinubu’s past political support by backing his re-election bid in 2027.

Salihu Praises Tinubu Over Ribadu’s Appointment

The Renewed Hope Agenda coordinator also commended Tinubu for appointing Nuhu Ribadu, an indigene of Adamawa State, as National Security Adviser (NSA).

He described the appointment as evidence of the President’s confidence in the state’s people and praised Ribadu’s role in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

“He has appointed our own Nuhu Ribadu and gave him the NSA office to handle. Is it this kind of person you will betray? No way,” he said.

Salihu further claimed that the country’s security situation was gradually improving under Tinubu’s administration, attributing the progress to the President’s leadership and the efforts of officials such as Ribadu.

“Today, Boko Haram is becoming history, insecurity challenges are gradually becoming a dead issue, all because Tinubu is working with people like Nuhu Ribadu,” he added.

Fintiri Gets Commendation

Salihu also praised Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his administration’s performance, saying his achievements had brought recognition to the state across the country.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is making Adamawa proud all over Nigeria. He has transformed and made the state new altogether. No governor has done what Fintiri is doing in this country,” he said.

He urged supporters at the rally to sustain the momentum behind the APC and mobilise voters for the party at all levels in the 2027 elections.

Salihu insisted that Tinubu remained the preferred choice for Adamawa voters, calling on the crowd to support the President and other APC candidates.

Adamawa 2027 Political Battle

The rally comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections in Adamawa State, the home state of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a prominent opposition figure.

The state is also politically significant because of its links to the emerging political movement associated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The organisers described the large turnout as evidence of growing support for Tinubu and the APC in the state, despite its longstanding political association with Atiku.

According to the organisers, the rally demonstrated Adamawa’s alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda and signalled their determination to deliver substantial votes for Tinubu and the APC in 2027.

However, the organisers’ claims about the level of support for Tinubu reflect their assessment of the rally and do not, on their own, establish how voters across Adamawa State will vote in the next presidential election.
