Toyin Abraham Pulls Out of APC Campaign Council
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has publicly distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council after her name appeared among entertainers selected for one of its directorates ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a post on her Instagram Story on September 17, Abraham said she was not part of any political campaign committee. She maintained that she had made the decision to stay away from politics.
Her clarification followed the release of the Lagos APC campaign structure. The structure listed her as a member of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
In a message on her Instagram handle on Thursday, she said: “I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
The development represents a significant departure from her role in the 2023 election, when she went on social media campaigning for President Bola Tinubu and even describing herself as “Asiwaju Baby.”
She has, however, lamented that her expectations of a lift in society have not been seen in recent times. She has cautiously pulled herself away from the political tide.
Lagos APC Campaign Structure
The campaign council was unveiled on Thursday by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre. Its formal inauguration was scheduled to take place on Friday, September 18.
Under the released structure, Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Jide Kosoko was listed as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.
Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was named Secretary of the directorate, while Dare Olateju was listed as Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainers whose names were included in the directorate include veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, as well as Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.

Several other Nollywood figures also appeared on the released list, including Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi and Foluke Daramola.
Kikelomo Balogun, Bopo Oyekan Ismaila, Rasaq Yusuf, Aderinola Philips, Olamide Maja and Abbey Lanre were also named as members of the directorate.
The music and entertainment industry was further represented on the list by Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika; Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa; and Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor.
Others who were listed were Sule Adiro Ataweye, Yemisi Falaye, Leke Babatunde Akinrowo, Kayode Fahm and Aruna Ishola.
Abraham’s public statement, however, makes it clear that she does not accept the political role attributed to her in the released campaign council list.
