APC Chairman Suspended Amid Allegations of Theft
The All Progressives Congress has suspended its chairman at the Emure Local Government level in Ekiti State, Mr. Bola Oluwole. The action was in consequence of serious allegations of theft, misconduct, and misappropriation of party funds.
An announcement signed in Ikere Ekiti by the APC leadership in the Ekiti North Senatorial District confirmed the fact of the suspension. This came as a result of recommendations by a seven-man disciplinary committee mandated to look into some of the allegations made against Oluwolele, bordering on stealing, high-handedness, rudeness, and misappropriation of party resources.

The statement further directed Oluwole to surrender all party properties to the Vice Chairman, Mr. Gabriel Monday Omoniyi, who is now appointed to act as chairman in his stead. The decision followed a protest staged by some members of the party at the party secretariat in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, last week. The protesters called for an immediate suspension of the chairman over his diversion of palliatives and other offenses.
Despite this, Oluwole has said he has not gotten any official letter suspending him. This drama currently playing out has attracted lots of attention and may foretell further happenings within the APC local leadership.
What the Ekiti State APC did was very critical to them. They really wanted to show that they would not tolerate a little bit of integrity and accountability in their midst amid heightening scrutiny and increasing internal demand for transparency.
