The political influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, could extend beyond his traditional political strongholds, with Primate Elijah Ayodele predicting that his Rainbow Coalition may record significant victories in Cross River and Ebonyi States ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Primate Ayodele made the prediction in a message published on his official Facebook page on Sunday, November 1, 2026, where he identified the two states as areas where Wike’s political structure could emerge as a major force.

According to the cleric, Wike remains an influential political figure in both the South-South and South-East regions, warning that political parties and stakeholders would be making a mistake by underestimating his influence ahead of the next general elections.

He stated: “Wike’s coalition party can shine in Cross River. Wike’s party can also shine in Ebonyi. So, all these areas, let’s watch.”

Wike’s Political Influence Beyond Rivers

The prediction comes amid ongoing political realignments and speculations surrounding Wike’s political movement and his reported coalition-building efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

Although Rivers State remains his traditional political base, Wike has continued to attract attention within the national political space because of his influence, political alliances and involvement in developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His political structure has also been associated with the Rainbow Coalition, a movement linked to his supporters and political allies.

Primate Ayodele’s prediction suggests that the coalition could attempt to expand its influence into states where its electoral strength may not yet be firmly established.

Cross River And Ebonyi In Focus Ahead Of 2027

Cross River and Ebonyi are particularly significant in the political calculations of the South-South and South-East regions.

In Cross River, the political contest is expected to involve competing interests and party structures seeking to control the state’s political direction ahead of 2027.

Similarly, Ebonyi remains an important political battleground in the South-East, where political alliances and the strength of party structures could influence the outcome of future elections.

Ayodele’s prediction has therefore drawn attention to the possibility of Wike’s political allies becoming influential players in both states.

Can Wike’s Coalition Challenge Established Political Forces?

One of the major questions surrounding Wike’s political influence is whether his network of supporters can translate its political connections into electoral victories outside Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory.

While some political observers have questioned the coalition’s ability to win significant political positions beyond its established areas of influence, Ayodele believes Cross River and Ebonyi could produce unexpected outcomes.

He also warned political parties and stakeholders against dismissing Wike’s political strength, suggesting that his coalition could make significant electoral gains if its opponents fail to organise effectively.

Such gains, according to the prediction, could extend beyond governorship contests to include legislative seats.

Political Parties Put On Notice

The prediction comes at a time when political parties are intensifying preparations, building alliances and positioning their candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Whether Wike’s Rainbow Coalition can make the predicted impact in Cross River and Ebonyi remains to be seen. However, the cleric’s remarks have added another dimension to the growing political conversations surrounding Wike’s influence and the possibility of new political alignments ahead of 2027.

For now, the electoral strength of the coalition in the two states will depend on its political organisation, alliances, candidates and ability to mobilise voters when the elections arrive.
