  • How NIA DG, Rufai Abubakar, Who Failed Promotion Exams Three Times, Was Forced to Resign from Tinubu’s Govt

    How NIA DG, Rufai Abubakar, Who Failed Promotion Exams Three Times, Was Forced to Resign from Tinubu’s Govt

    NIA DG, Rufai Abubakar, Resigns: Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, has resigned citing personal and family reasons. His resignation followed a routine briefing with President Bola Tinubu.

    Buhari Extended Tenure of NIA DG Rufai Abubakar Despite Exam Failures

    Despite failing promotion exams three times, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar was reappointed as Director-General (DG) of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) by former President Muhammadu Buhari, sparking accusations of tribalism and religious bias. Concerns were raised by several NIA directors, who questioned Abubakar’s qualifications and the implications of his appointment.

    NIA Directors Demand Removal of Ahmed Rufai Abubakar

    In a letter to the House of Representatives Committee on Security and National Intelligence, a group of directors within the NIA, under the name “Concerned Directors of NIA,” called for the immediate removal of Abubakar. They argued that his appointment set a dangerous precedent, as he was the first person to head the agency without holding the rank of director.

    The directors expressed fears that Abubakar might purge senior officers, jeopardizing the agency’s effectiveness. They highlighted the potential security risks posed by Abubakar’s ties to Chad, raising concerns about his loyalty and the integrity of his vetting process.

    Concerns Over National Security

    The directors emphasized the threat to Nigeria’s national security if Abubakar remained in his position. They warned that any attempt to disregard their concerns could lead to the misuse of the agency’s sensitive information.

    Allegations Against the Presidential Review Panel

    The directors also accused the Babagana Kingibe-led Presidential Review Panel of violating its own recommendations by appointing Abubakar. They alleged that the panel was created to protect former NIA DG Ayo Oke, with the intent of keeping control over the remaining $44 million of the NIA intervention fund.

    Manufactured Documents Allegation

    Furthermore, the directors claimed that the Clandestine Operations Unit of the NIA was being used to create and clone documents to defend Abubakar against the legitimacy crisis he faced. These allegations, coupled with his failed promotion exams, ultimately led to Abubakar’s forced resignation from President Tinubu’s government.

    Open Heaven 25 August 2024 TOPIC: Peer Pressure

    MEMORISE: “For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” – 2 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV)

    READ: Romans 12:1-3 (KJV)

    1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

    2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

    3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ezekiel 9-12

    Open Heaven 25 August 2024:  MESSAGE

    Peer pressure is one of the greatest enemies of a Christian. The most dangerous thing about it is that it is not specifically listed amongst the works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21, and so many Christians are not careful of it. Also, many people think that peer pressure only applies to teenagers, but it is also present among older people. For example, when you go to a wedding, and you join your peers in dancing to worldly songs because you don’t want them to see you sitting aside, that is peer pressure making you do something against God’s will. You cannot please God and man at the same time. King Saul tried to please men, and he displeased God as a result. He lost his throne and died a shameful death (1 Samuel 31:1-6).

    Don’t try to dress like the world because you don’t want to seem ‘left out’. Don’t try to use dirty slangs to show that you are also familiar with current trends. Many years ago, I was a guest minister somewhere, and when the man of God who was to introduce me went to the altar to do the introduction, he said that he liked everything about me except the way I dressed like a hunter with my short-sleeved suits. I replied that I am not a hunter, I am a soldier. His remarks did not make me change the way I dress, even though my colleagues were wearing flowing agbada around that time. Today, God has raised me very high amongst my colleagues. Children of God are not influenced by peer pressure; they are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). When a Christian starts doing things because of what people will say or think, such a believer has stopped being led by the Spirit of God, and the fellow is already losing his or her sonship.

    The word of God says in (2 Corinthians 6:17) that you must be separate. If people are to be seen as your peers, let them be people who have separated themselves for Christ. Amongst these people, you can bow to the peer pressure of who is praying the longest, who has memorized more Scriptures, who wins the most number of souls per day, et cetera. That is the only kind of peer pressure that is good for a Christian; pressure to please God more and draw closer to Him, not pressure that relates to carnal things.

    Fight valiantly onward,
    Evil passions subdue;
    Look ever to Jesus,
    He will carry you through.

    Refrain:
    Ask the Savior to help you,
    Comfort, strengthen and keep you;
    He is willing to aid you,
    He will carry you through.

    2 Shun evil companions,
    Bad language disdain;
    God’s name hold in rev’rence,
    Nor take it in vain;
    Be thoughtful and earnest,
    Kindhearted and true;
    Look ever to Jesus,
    He will carry you through.

    3 To him that o’ercometh,
    God giveth a crown;

  • The People Are Not Interested – Group Explains Why There Was No Jubilation After Uzodinma Won At Supreme Court

     Hope Uzodinma

    The Imo State chapter of the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has provided reasons for the absence of celebration in the state following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold Governor Hope Uzodinma’s election.

    The group said the people already knew the direction of the judgment.

    In a press statement issued by its State Chairman Chinonso Uba, the group also identified hardship and insecurity as reasons for the apathy towards the verdict.

    The group in the press release maintained that the people are no longer interested in the political happenings under the present administration of Uzodinma.

    “If there was any judgment over the 2023 Imo guber election on the 23rd August 2024, Imolites were not aware

    “The reason is not far fetched – the governor is not in Imo, doesn’t care about Ndi Imo, not interested in what Ndi Imo are going through ,whether Ndi Imo are dead or alive, he doesn’t care,” the statement said.

    The statement added that the only people who are aware of any Supreme Court judgment are the members of the APC who are also suffering the same economic meltdown with the ordinary citizens.

    “If the people are truly interested in the judgement the streets of Owerri would have erupted in jubilation and ecstacy but everywhere was unbelievably quiet, cold and unconcerned.

    “Ndi Imo remain unperturbed with the judgement because of the leadership style of the man at the helm of affairs.

    “Lack of accountability of Imo LGAs allocation between January 2020 to August 2024 and non-infrastructural development contributed to the quietness that greeted the judgement in the state.”

    EPL: Gary Neville Singles Out One Man Utd Player After 2-1 Defeat At Brighton

    Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has singled out Casemiro for contributing to Brighton’s late winning goal against the Red Devils on Saturday.

    Neville, speaking on NBC, said Casemiro showed a “lack of concentration” by leaving his position at the back post.

    Erik ten Hag’s men suffered their first defeat of the season, with Danny Welbeck netting a first half opener, before Amad Diallo levelled in the second half.

    Joao Pedro then scored a late header in stoppage time.

    Neville said: “I think particularly if you watch Casemiro, it looks to me, I’ve only watched it once back on the replay, it looks like he leaves his position at that back post and runs back towards central midfield.

    “But then it leaves an acre of space in that back zone where there are three Brighton players queuing up. Lack of concentration, lack of focus and it does put some pressure on them.”

    Supreme Court: Prepare For Criticism, Unite Kogi – Okai To Gov Ododo

    A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Usman Austin Okai, has charged Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State to be prepared for constructive criticism.

    He, however, urged the governor to unite the state and depart from the divisive practices of the previous administration.

    Okai urged Ododo to prioritize the welfare of Kogi State’s citizens by ensuring timely payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, as well as providing essential facilities and services to the people.

    He made the call in response to the Supreme Court’s judgment which affirmed Ododo’s governorship election.

    Okai, however, noted that the Supreme Court judgment did not accurately reflect the election’s outcome.

    In a statement he signed, the PDP chieftain said the focus should now shift to the next four years, during which Ododo must work towards rebuilding and developing the state.

    Okai called on the governor to “put aside political differences and work towards a united Kogi State, where every citizen can thrive and enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

    He also reminded the governor to expect constructive criticism from the opposition, as they are “ready to speak out when necessary to ensure accountability and good governance.”

    “We urge Governor Ododo to unite the state, prioritize workers’ welfare, and provide essential services to the people. We will offer constructive criticism when necessary to ensure a better future for Kogi State,” Okai said.

    US Forces Kill Al-Makki, Senior Leader Of Terrorists’ Group Aligned With Al Qaeda In Syria

    United States Central Command on Friday announced that forces in Syria had successfully killed a terrorists’ group senior leader, Abu-‘Abd al-Rahman al-Makki.

    Hurras al-Din was designated “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” by the US under Executive Order 13224 in September 2019.

    Fox News reports that Al-Makki was killed in a “targeted kinetic strike” Syria.

    Al-Makki was a council member and senior leader with Hurras al-Din, which is ideologically aligned with Al-Qaeda in Syria.

    He was responsible for overseeing terrorist operations for the group in the Middle Eastern nation.

    “CENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of terrorists in the CENTCOM area of responsibility who threaten the United States, its allies and partners, and regional stability,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander, U.S. Central Command.

    CENTCOM said Hurras al-Din and organizations like it stand against the West and her allies, including the United States.

    Flood Claims Six Lives, Displaces Thousands In Adamawa Communities

    Communities around Shuwa, a town in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, have been hit by torrential rainfall, which led to flood that has claimed six lives.

    The flood displaced 10,264 people now registered as refugees in several camps on safer grounds around the area.

    Witnesses said the disaster, unprecedented in the area, caused particular devastation on communities that included Kirkinga, the hometown of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, as well as Mildu, Duhu, Maiwandu, Maradi, Mayo Wandu, Shuware, Pambla 2, and Palam.

    The heaviest rain, said to have occurred in the nearby Madara mountain and which was accompanied by more rains in other communities down the mountain, caused the flood that destroyed houses and foodstuffs and other domestic valuables and washed off farmlands.

    Importantly, the Shuwa main Bridge along which commuters pass to neighbouring Borno State, was destroyed.

    A source put the number of partially destroyed houses at 184, with 251 others totally destroyed.

    DAILY POST gathered on Saturday that the communities in the Madagali axis had been experiencing heavy rainfalls for four days, making residents apprehensive of what would happen next.

    A victim, Habu Abdullahi, said, “Our house has been washed away; but who are we to question God? I thank the Almighty for no life was lost in my family.”

    The village head of Shuwa/Kirchinga, Mustafa Sanusi said the incident was unfortunate and pleaded for government’s intervention.

    The Chairman of Madagali LGA, Simon Musa, reiterating that the affected communities had never had it so bad, affirmed that thousands of individuals displaced were now seeking refuge at eight temporary camps located mostly in premises of schools.

    Attributing the cause of the flood to the downpour from the Mandara mountain, the council chairman said apart from destroying the Shuwa Bridge and houses, foodstuff, and farmlands of people, the flood caused extensive erosion.

    He said he learnt from people around the Mandara mountain that it had been raining there for consecutive four days, adding that further rain in Shuwa and other communities down the mountain resulted in the unprecedented flood.

    He appealed to authorities of federal and state governments and humanitarian organisations to reach out to the affected people.

    It was gathered Saturday morning that while the flood in Madagali LGA occurred on Wednesday August 21, an earlier one had taken place on August 20 in Shelleng LGA of Adamawa State when the Kiri Dam in Tudun Tsira overflowed its banks, resulting in severe flooding across communities, which included Kwakwambe, Lure, Nbalang, Imburu, and Bare in neighbouring Numan Local Government Area.
