CBN deadline for old naira notes: Rejecting old naira notes now will land you in trouble

Rejecting old naira notes, for now, will land you in trouble.

The CBN deadline for old naira notes

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, at 12:32 WAT, the Kano state government shut down a popular supermarket, and Welcare ova accused dem of rejecting old naira notes despite the Supreme Court’s order requiring people to continue using them.

After the shutdown, some Kano state government officials posted on social media and asked people to name shops or businesses in their area. They also asked people not to stop using old naira notes so that they don’t go out of business as Welcare did.

After the naira redesign policy, the Central Bank of Nigeria set a date for when the old naira notes could be used in Nigeria again.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Yarn say anyone who does not collect old naira notes violates the order of the Supreme Court. The order to shut down was carried out by Baffa Dan Agundi, who is the acting chairperson of the Kano Consumer Protection Council.

This is the role that I will keep as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor. Abubakar Ibrahim requested that people use social media to send the addresses of businesses that do not collect old naira notes so that action could be taken.

Across the state, many businesses continue to collect and do their business without any problems.

People who reject old Naira notes will be arrested. Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle orders the arrest of anyone who refuses to accept the old Naira note.

Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, has told the police to arrest anyone who won’t take the old N200, N5,000, and N1,000 notes.

Governor Yarn says that old notes will still be accepted as payment until the Supreme Court decides the case brought by the governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states in the north against the Central Bank of Nigeria and the federal government.

According to Matawalle’s ministerial aide, Jamilu Iliyasu, “anyone who refuses to accept the old currency notes of N200, N500, and N1000 in the state should be arrested.”

People can use old notes for years, according to Kaduna Governor El-Rufai.

In a video that went viral a few days ago, Governor Nasir El-Rufai asked people in Kaduna state to continue using old notes without fear of the next APC government changing its policy.

“Stop returning your money to the banks; nobody is going to devalue your money; I beg you; it’s just a matter of time, and the election is only 18 days away.” Wait to hear what Bola Tinubu says after the election. He will change the policy. “Whatever we call it, many Nigerian businesses continue to deal in old naira notes because new ones are scarce, and the Supreme Court has the final say on this matter.”

Abubakar Malami, who is the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), has asked the Supreme Court to throw out the case that the three states filed to challenge the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira redesign policy.

After the Supreme Court issued an interim injunction to stop the Nigerian government from stopping people from using the old 200, 500, and 1,000 naira notes as legal currency on February 10,

Barrister Wada Wada, a legal practitioner, tells BBC News Pidgin that whatever the Supreme Court decides in this case on February 15, 2023, will be the final word on this matter.

The three states want the Supreme Court to halt the naira redesign policy because of the associated crisis.

“Whatever dem tok on Wednesday is binding because the Supreme Court is the highest court in the land and its decisions are binding,” he says.

If CBN or the federal government does not toe the line that the Supreme Court has set, that is a serious offence.”

The policy has an impact on many regions of the nation because some banks hoard new naira notes and customers encounter both new and old naira notes at counters and ATMs.This causes some irate customers to attack banks and stage protests in various parts of the country.

In Effurun, Delta State, one video shows bank customers climbing steps to escape. Angry customers who don’t see any cash to withdraw begin attacking bank employees. Other videos show some bank customers exposing themselves to protest the fact that they were unable to collect money from the bank.

Other videos show ATMs that angry customers destroy in Abeokuta, Ogun State, because of a lack of access to cash. Some banks close to ensure the safety of their employees, while others close early and take safety measures.

To calm their customers, viral videos show how some banks buy soft drinks for their customers inside the banking hall and the ones queuing to use the ATMs.

The CBN deadline for old naira notes will be known on February 15 .

Several media outlets had reported that the LP in the SouthWest had allied with the APC in advance of the 2023 general election.

According to reports, the alleged chairman of the Southwest LP, Omotoso Banji, was responsible for the collapse of the party’s structure in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

In a conversation with our correspondent, the National Chairman of the party described the report as false.

According to Abure, the alleged regional party leader, Banji was expelled from the party decades ago for his participation in anti-party activities.

He stated, “Rather than redeeming their image and apologizing to Nigerians for mismanagement, the APC is seeking cheap publicity.”

APC launches apps to attract 80 million voters for Tinubu

APC says it has developed an apps to attract over 80 million voters for Bola Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC/PCC) has developed applications to attract 80 million voters towards Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 poll

Abiola Oshodi, the media director of the Tinubu/Shettima Grassroots Independent Campaign Council in Ondo, made this revelation on Monday.

He said over the telephone that the applications would capture the database of the electorate for election mobilisation and canvassing through the state, local government, wards and polling units.

According to him, the applications will ensure over 80 million voters in Nigeria vote for APC and smoothen political engagements by sensitising and creatively engaging them on the platforms.

“This will enhance the mobilisation of voters and canvassing of undecided voters before the election and will bring real-time information to supporters of the presidential candidate without broken messages and in real-time.

“They allow for unit-to-unit canvassing and mobilisation and will promote the presidential candidate and educate voters on his antecedents,” he stated.

The APC/PCC member said the applications were developed locally by youths towards a better Nigeria.

Mr Oshodi described the 2022 Electoral law as a game changer, saying it would address many forms of electoral malpractices and other electoral shenanigans that had characterised the electoral process in the past.

“Electoral malpractices will be minimised by the new Electoral Act and thus the need to scale up our activities and preparation towards the 2023 national election by embracing and leveraging technology and electoral transparency, which are the intents and purposes of the new 2022 Electoral Act.

“BVAS will ensure that the majority of votes will count, and where there are issues, the electoral audit will easily identify most electoral malpractices,” he said.

Details on why Peter Obi didn’t visit Oba of Lagos emerge

Dayo Ekong, the chairperson of the Labour Party (LP) in Lagos State, has explained why the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, did not visit the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, during his massive rally in the state on Saturday.

In other states, Mr. Obi always made it a point to start his campaigns by visiting traditional rulers. In Lagos, however, he started at the Alaba International Market, which is mostly made up of traders from the South-East region of the country.

Later, he went to Tafawa Balewa Square, where a campaign event that looked like a carnival was held. Many of his supporters and party members were there.

Many people have called Mr. Obi’s actions rude, but Mrs. Ekong said in an interview on Arise TV on Monday that the LP presidential candidate tried to pay a courtesy visit to the most prominent traditional rulers but ran into a brick wall.

“People say things they don’t know,” she said. If you have been following Mr. Obi’s campaign train, you know that he pays respects to the royal fathers. Mr. Obi tried to see the Oba of Lagos, but he was not able to do so.

She said, “No, we didn’t get to the palace. You should know that if he was going to the palace, there should have been a plan in place to let the Oba know. If they say that the Oba is not available, Obi will not go to an empty palace.”

Mrs. Ekong mentioned that Mr. Obi had written to the Oba, but since he hadn’t received a response, he wouldn’t go to an empty palace.

“He won’t go to a palace without the Oba to see him. The first thing we should know is that Mr. Obi respects the culture. He has been doing this everywhere he has been.

“This is the 37th rally, and there’s no way Obi would have forgotten about the man we call the head of Lagos State and our traditional ruler,” she said.

According to reports, United’s American owners wanted to sell for between £6bn and £8bn, but a bid of up to £4.5bn could be sufficient to acquire the club.

You may have heard that some online bookmakers are closing their betting apps. Yes, it’s true. If you’ve used one that has, it’s probably bad news. For example, Betfair, Hollywoodbets and Betcoza have closed their apps.

Many sportsbooks abandon their apps as part of brand strategy. This can be for various reasons, including that there’s an opportunity to offer better value to clients. This article will explain why sportsbooks, especially the big guns, close their apps. It will also help you to figure out what you should do next when this happens.

They Have Lost Leverage In The Industry

As stated earlier, most Sportsbooks abandon their betting apps for several reasons. However, the most common reason is that the sportsbook has lost leverage in its industry. They can no longer compete due to lower market share. Hence, it becomes challenging to convince most punters to join their network.

Some sportsbooks believe that they can no longer keep pace with all the brands trooping in the market. Some punters are better off opting for a mobile app such as Betway rather than going anywhere else. Bookmakers don’t want to fight against circumstances that they cannot change. They don’t want to waste effort and resources on betting apps when they can always invest in other things.

Bookmakers Do Not Want To Face Legal Issues.

Some bookmakers close their betting apps in South Africa because they want to minimize legal risks. You may not have imagined this reason. But yes, it’s true. This is partly because some customers can easily report them on social media when things go south. Before they know it, a simple report on app experiences can culminate into serious legal battles. Plus, it will also hurt the reputation of these businesses.

    Some Bookmakers Are Considering Expansion.

It could also be that these bookmakers want to expand their betting business. In this way, they can boost the number of users in their newly-built apps. It is an important reminder that even popular sportsbooks need to consider how mobile commerce impacts their brands. By doing so, they can fly high.

They Want To Focus On What They Do Best.

Sportsbooks also abandon their apps because they want to focus on the core services of offering odds. They don’t want to be carried away with managing client support like an app service would demand. Sportsbooks believe that they can offer better services by focusing on what they do best. This includes providing wagering odds with the help of artificial intelligence.

They Don’t Want To Grapple With High Regulatory Costs

Some bookmakers abandon their betting apps because of high regulatory costs. They need to comply with various laws, standards, and regulations in their target markets. This includes learning about their clients’ location and age. On many occasions, they will have to ban minors from accessing some gambling activities.

Bookmakers Do Not Want To Be Left Behind.

It has become a challenging adventure to build a lucrative app in the online punting scene. Clients have become demanding. They keep asking for new experiences, such as betting with robots instead of using their cell phones on the go. Some sportsbooks believe that they have to escape from what they cannot do best before they are left behind.

They Are Not Generating Enough Revenue Through The App.

The most common reason why bookies close their apps is that they are not making enough money. The logistics of running a betting app are extremely complicated. Many bookmakers struggle to generate enough income to justify the effort and cost of running an app.

Sometimes, customer bets do not cover the costs. The punting industry is already struggling to adapt after punting was banned in some countries. With taxes rising every year, it’s getting harder for sportsbooks to cover operating costs as well as make profits. So they believe that it’s not worth their investments.

Their Business Model Is Incompatible With A Mobile App.

Sportsbooks abandon their apps because their business structure is incompatible with the features of IOS and Android. They find it challenging to manage the implementation and development of the platform on the internet.

    Users Dislike Their Products.

Some sportsbooks close their apps because they cannot keep their users happy. The reason is simple. Their product is not up to par, and they’re forced to take shortcuts. It can be annoying when a betting app allows you to access a single bet within a limited time. Or maybe it takes a lot of time for the results of the wagers to come through. This can lead people away from using the app in the long run.

How To Add A Link To The Bookmaker’s Site On Phone’s Home Screen.

Why Bookmakers Close Their Apps; Here Are Some Reasons

If you have a favorite bookmaker, the best thing to do is here. You will need to include a direct link on your home screen. It’s very easy to do that.

Open your browser and visit the platform. Then tap the screen’s three-dot icon at the top corner. Choose ‘Add to Home Screen.’

Open Google Chrome and go to the website. Then drop down the menu by tapping the screen’s three-dot icon at the top right-hand corner. Select Add to Home screen. Note that if the website has an app in the Play Store, the Add to Home screen option will be replaced by the Install app.

    Conclusion.

There are various reasons why bookies close their apps. However, all of them boil down to a single conclusion, which is a lack of interest in the app. Or they no longer find it profitable. You might be thinking, ‘what am I going to do now since my betting platform is closed?’ Not to worry. You can either look out for another bookie offering similar services. Or sometimes, they may not be closing down permanently. You could check the bookie’s website, as it may close for maintenance or other reasons.

DSS Invites Fani-Kayode Over Alleged Coup Plot By Atiku

DSS has invited Fani-Kayode over alleged coup plot by Atiku

The Department of State Services, DSS, has invited a spokesperson of the Bola Tinubu/ Shettima Campaign Council, Femi Fani-Kayode over claims that the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar met with some Service Chiefs and was planning a ‘Coup’.

Confirming his invitation on Social media on Monday morning, FFK wrote; “3 days ago, on the day that I tweeted about newspaper reports alleging that Atiku was secretly meeting with Army Generals,I got a text message from someone who claimed to be DSS asking me to report to them on a matter of national security.

Nigerian Air Force DSSC Recruitment 2022/2023 Portal Is Now Open

“I dismissed the invitation because it was vague and I was not sure whether it really came from the DSS. In any case I had no intention of going anywhere unless I was formally invited. To my surprise I received a formal letter from them to report to their office without fail 2 days later, which was yesterday evening. I put a call through to them & was advised to take the matter very seriously & report to them on the stipulated day and time otherwise the worse may happen.”

“I found it interesting that a call came from one of Atiku’s dogs dogs for me to be arrested by the security agencies yesterday and had it not been for the fact that the DSS had actually sent a text to me two days earlier I may have thought that they were acting on the instructions of what can only be described as a hopeless and desperate presidential candidate, opposition party and PCC who are clutching at straws, drowning fast, seeking to silence those that give them sleepless nights, shivering in despair and staring defeat in the face in the upcoming presidential election.”

“Clearly the DSS were not influenced by Atiku and were simply doing their job by inviting me on a matter that needs explanation and clarification and for a thorough interrogation. And of course being a responsible and law abiding citizen I will present myself before them accordingly Unlike cowards like Emefiele, Atiku and their strange bedfellows I do not fear my own shadow and neither do I shiver and shake when I am invited by the security agencies. I always honor their invitations when properly invited because that is the right and proper thing to do.”

“This is all the more so when it touches and concerns matters of national security which I take very seriously & when it involves agencies like the DSS who are professional and thorough in their methods and approach. I have nothing to hide and consequently I will present myself before the DSS this morning as I have been asked to do.”

“I maintain my utter contempt for Atiku & the vermin that are around him & no matter what happens to me today or at any other time, know that as long as there is life in me I will oppose the darkness & evilhat they represent. I am used to arrest, interrogation, detention, prosecution and so much more and have suffered these indignities on many occassions over the last 15 years.”

“I have no fear: nothing moves me and only death can silence me. The most important thing now is not what happens to me but rather achieving the noble quest to ensure the election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our next President. That is the mission that we must focus on because that is the only way to save our country. I hope that I will be at liberty & free to continue to play my role in that quest but if I am not and I am detained indefinitely or till the election is over so be it. In such circumstances be rest assured that I will be praying fervently for Asiwaju’s victory from the inside.
